Sicily region with the most hospitalized cases

Sicily with 11.5% (updated to yesterday’s figure ed) is the Italian region with the highest percentage of coronavirus cases in hospital, a figure clearly higher than the national average of 6.6%, followed by Liguria (10.4%) Lazio (9.9%), Puglia ( 8.9%), Piedmont (8.6%), Abruzzo (8.2%), Basilicata (7.9%). This was revealed by the monitoring of the Gimbe Foundation that highlights how “since the end of July there has been an increase in hospitalized patients with symptoms and in intensive care, which have increased respectively from 732 to 3,625 and from 49 to 319”.

However, it should be noted that on March 28, the day on which the most infections were recorded in Sicily during the confinement (175 out of 1,164 swabs made), those hospitalized were 414 out of 1,095 positive at that time. Therefore, in percentage they were 37%. Therefore, it is easy to understand how six months later, from a medical point of view, the virus seems to be more easily controlled.

The number of new cases of Covid 19 in our country continues to increase. According to data provided by the Ministry of Health, in the last 24 hours there have been 4,458 new positives (there were 3,600 yesterday) compared to 128,098 swabs made. Since yesterday there have been another 22 deaths, bringing the total to 36,083 since the start of the emergency.
