ROME. Private parties reduced to few participants, baptisms and weddings with limited numbers, constant controls in the nightlife areas, with possible early closings of the premises. New restrictions on the government study, in addition to the requirement for outdoor masks, could be added to the draft of the new decree to be approved on Wednesday. With daily infections in 2,578 cases, the Executive is “working to avoid a new confinement that we should not allow ourselves,” explains the Minister of Health, Roberto Speranza, who closes the possibility of increasing the maximum threshold of a thousand fans in the stadium for matches of Series A and, given the multiplication of infections among the benches, he assures: “We want to keep the schools open despite the fact that there will be more infections.”

But mini-closures have already been established in some cities around the country. The ASL intervenes against the increase in cases in the territory of the Municipality of Latina, asking to leave their homes “only in case of need and avoid unnecessary exits, until there is a clear image.” In Italy there is a slight decrease in new cases, 2,578 in the last 24 hours compared to 2,844 the day before, but the number of swabs performed is also lower: 92,714, about 26 thousand less. The number of victims is also decreasing: 18 in one day, for a total of 35,986 (yesterday there were 27). Most of the new patients are still in Campania (+412), where among the victims is also the Bishop of Caserta Giovanni D’Alise, hospitalized since September 30 in the city hospital and died of pulmonary complications: is the first prelate died of Covid. And the government, which draws up the draft of the decree without taking its eyes off the numbers of the bulletin, will present the new Dpcm to the Council of Ministers tomorrow.

Then the passage of Minister Speranza in Parliament and on Wednesday the signature of Prime Minister Conte, who warns from Assisi: “The enemy has not yet been defeated, we are aware that we cannot disperse the sacrifices made.” A warning that confirms the intentions of the experts, in these hours, of a greater shrinkage of the shirts. The Scientific Technical Committee indicates its line: limitation of attendance quotas at private parties and on the occasion of events and ceremonies.

According to scientists, to avoid a significant increase in contagion and the need for a generalized closure, a progressive restriction of measures will be necessary in the fall season: to start with a squeeze of nightlife in the first hours of the premises closing until a significant increase in controls, in addition to the obligation to wear a mask outdoors. This last measure, already in force with ordinances in Campania, Lazio and other regions, “is one of the hypotheses that we are evaluating.” The government will make its decisions only after parliamentary approval – explains Speranza, for whom “we are now in a phase of significant growth of contagion.” Then, in light of the controversy over the lack of the Juventus-Napoli match, he launched an imperative: “A little less football and a little more school, if possible. But he also guarantees that there will be no stoppage in Serie A, because “the CTS has safely established rules that allow the championship to advance.”

Fears also about contagion opportunities due to transport and at this time new interventions in the future cannot be completely excluded. In Rome and in all other Italian metropolitan cities “they should be doubled”, according to the medical director of the Spallanzani Institute, Francesco Vaia: “We have done a lot in ports and airports and we have become a European and international benchmark, but metropolitan transport is an element of great concern ”.
