In the last 48 hours, therefore, the positive / swab ratio has increased by almost five points.
Slight decrease in hospitalizations – On the first day of the year, instead, 462 Registered deaths: the total number of victims in Italy amounts to 74,621. The number of people who are currently positive also increased for the second day in a row: today there are 574,767, 4,871 more than yesterday. There was also an increase on December 31, but from 5,501. On the other hand, hospitalizations with Covid symptoms in Italian hospitals are returning: in fact they are 329 fewer patients in the last 24 hours for a total of 22,822. Slight drop also in intensive therapy with 2 fewer admissions for a total of 2,553: 145 admissions today. Those healed or discharged increased from 16,877 to 1,479,988.
Almost all regions have three-digit increments: the Veneto confirms the region with the highest daily increase in Covid cases with 4,805 new infections in 24 hours. They follow Lombardy with another 3,056 new infections, Emilia romagna (+2,629), Lazio (+1,913), Campania (+1,734), Puglia (+1,395), Sicily (+1,122) and Piedmont (+1,058). Only Valle d’Aosta sees a double-digit increase in cases (+17): all other regions have seen a triple-digit increase.
