Coronavirus, still record number of infections in Sicily: more than 200 cases in 24 hours, 4 deaths

Sicily exceeds 200 infections a day and unfortunately reaches the new record. Never so many new positives since the pandemic began: in the last 24 hours, in fact, there were 213. And there are also 4 new victims to be registered: two men in Catania, a woman in Palermo and one in Mazara del Vallo. That is what emerges from the bulletin of the Ministry of Health.

There are currently 3,549 positives in Sicily of which 375 hospitalized, 30 in intensive care (+2) and 3,144 in home isolation. Since the pandemic began in Sicily, a total of 8,220 cases have been recorded. The cured reached 4,345 (+108 in the last 24 hours).

New significant increase in Covid infections also in the rest of Italy: they are 3,678 compared to 2,677 yesterday. In the last 24 hours there have been 31 deaths, compared to 28 yesterday. New record also for tampons: 125,314.

“The figures that arrive even in these hours tell us that we are facing a huge challenge and that we must think together how to face it and win it: I come from a CDM in which we have extended the state of emergency until January 31. With today’s elections we mark a change: no more ordinances to expand but ordinances that begin to say ‘attention because the situation is serious and delicate,’ “said the Minister of Health, Roberto Speranza, at the Fimmg congress in Villasimius.
