Coronavirus, restrictions until mid-January also in the yellow regions – Corriere.it

The epidemiological curve continues to rise and even in the yellow regions the reopening scheduled for January 7 no longer seems to be taken for granted. Already on Tuesday, when the Istituto Superiore di Sanit examines the progress of the Sars-CoV-2 infection, the government could decide to extend some restrictions, at least until the expiration of the Dpcm scheduled for January 15. There are six regions that could change bands as of Friday, January 8, others are at risk. With the reopening of schools and free mobility again, there is a fear that the situation will worsen even more and that is why we are considering how and where to intervene. Yesterday the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza set the reopening of the ski resorts for January 18, postponing the date set by two weeks according to those responsible. Now we look at the deadlines for the other sectors.

The Rt index: between 1.25 and 1.50

According to the criteria established by the Ministry of Health, regions with a Rt greater than 1.25 are likely to pass into the orange band, those that exceed 1.50 could enter the red band. Of course, all monitoring parameters have to be taken into account and therefore nothing has been decided yet, but the contacts between theHigher Institute of Health and the governors’ delegates aim precisely to establish what will have to happen as of January 8: to evaluate the necessary measures to prevent even the sacrifices made by citizens in these last two Christmas weeks can be canceled.

The six regions at risk

the December 29 newsletter noted how Veneto, Liguria, Calabria have a point Rt greater than 1 even at the lowest value, therefore compatible with a type 2 scenario, while Basilicata, Lombardy and Puglia exceed it in the average value, me Marche, Emilia-Romagna and Friuli-Venezia Giulia play it. That is why the experts suggested considering the application of the planned measures, for the assigned risk levels, even beyond the current deadlines and therefore in the conclusions they highlighted the need to maintain the line of rigor of the measures over time. mitigation measures taken during the Christmas holidays..

The band change

The data of these days – confirms the secretary of the Technical-Scientific Committee, Fabio Ciciliano – are affected by what happened as of December 15, with the multitude of Christmas shopping. It is clear that with the next newsletter, therefore, on January 8, we will have to analyze the situation and validate any changes in the range with regions that can go orange or even red. But it should not be taken for granted that this may be enough to keep infection trends under control. And so the Minister of Regional Affairs working to activate the regime of the orange gangs as of January 10. Containment measures to prevent the week prior to the writing of the new Dpcm there may be too sharp a loosening of the contagion curve.

Stop at bars and restaurants

The idea that prevails at these times is to extend throughout Italy – therefore also in those regions that should remain in the yellow band – some restrictions already adopted during the Christmas holidays. Among the options that are being examined is the one that provides, at least for one more week and therefore until January 15, bars and restaurants are closed also for lunch, allowing only takeout and home delivery. A measure that FIPE, the Federation of Public Companies, is preparing to fight against because it is considered distressing for those who are already paying a very high price.

The prohibition to move

The other possibility, on the other hand, affects freedom of movement. The prohibition of crossing regional borders or the obligation to all remain in their municipality of residence, as anticipated by the orange band. In this case, however, there is the exception of traveling for proven needs that are work, health and emergency reasons. Without excluding the possibility of leaving the possibility two people to visit family and friends. Also in this case, the extension could be worth one week to reach the expiration of the Dpcm and re-evaluate the entire system of measures and regulations to be put into effect.

From sports to shows

A situation that seems to eliminate the possibility of reopening gyms and swimming pools, but also cinemas and theaters. In any case, different sectors are discussing the new guidelines with the Technical-Scientific Committee and therefore it is not excluded that in the end it can be decided – in any case after january 15 – foresee the reopening of the gyms with the only possibility of doing take individual lessons. On the other hand, the green light in the rooms seems more complicated, especially because there is the fear of not being able to avoid queues and meetings at the entrances.
