Coronavirus, ready for population screening in Monserrato

Monserrato: population screening to counteract the spread of the coronavirus. Not only that: the City Council has bought 300 pulse oximeters to be assigned to citizens who tested positive for Covid-19 and in home isolation, according to the lists transmitted by ATS Sardinia.

Important news, therefore, from Thursday: for three days diagnostic tests will be carried out on municipal employees who will join the project.

“It is a very important political decision that was made in the interest of our citizens. We opted – says Mayor Tomaso Locci – for nasopharyngeal swabs that will be performed by an accredited company ”. An important choice, “in such a way that false positives are not generated or the healthcare activity is further aggravated. We will start with categories such as those over 65, immunosuppressed and with pathologies and we will also think about schools, therefore students and teachers ”.

As for the school, the date is still uncertain, it is being evaluated for the beginning of January so that the return of the Christmas holidays, a period in which an increase in infections could be expected, occurs safely. For the rest of the bands affected, the departure is imminent: with the change in budget, 100,000 euros have been allocated, currently 39,000 euros will be used.

Another 4,000 and 500 euros were invested in the purchase of pulse oximeters that will go to citizens who fight against covid-19 “to give greater peace of mind to those who stay at home with the disease.” An important instrument that detects the amount of oxygen in the blood and pulse oximetry, essential to understand, as soon as possible, when it is necessary to alert medical personnel in case the values no longer conform to the norm.

It is expected that at least 2 of my citizens will be subjected to the hyssop: “It is a good start, then those of the Sardinia Region will follow” but in the meantime we start with the more “sensitive” categories, such as

teaching and non-teaching staff of public, mixed and private schools, kindergarten and primary school children, secondary and university students, parents and family members who live together.

People over 65 and immunosuppressed with pathologies, home assistants and educators.

If necessary, the municipal administration will identify additional categories of people at risk, depending on the evolution of the epidemiological situation and new needs.
