Coronavirus, Putin’s spokesperson positive for the test: fears from Russia

While Russia beats Britain and Spain and is second only to the United States, the coronavirus is getting closer and closer to Vladimir Putin. After Prime Minister Mishustin and two ministers, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also tested positive for his wife and was hospitalized. Peskov, who has been working with Putin since the early 2000s, is one of the closest leaders to the Russian leader, and says he last met Putin a month ago. The ex-wife of figure skating champion Tatyana Navka said the couple opted for hospitalization to protect other family members and not because of the gravity of the situation. For several weeks, Putin has been working “remotely,” completely isolated in one of the presidential residences on the outskirts of Moscow. Today, however, he appeared on television while talking to Igor Sechin, president of the largest state-owned oil company, Rosneft: they were sitting at the same table and a distance of a few inches, and neither of them was wearing a mask.

Accidents in the hospital

Meanwhile, all Aventa M lung ventilators produced in Russia have been blocked by investigative authorities after two dramatic accidents that have turned these medical devices into dangerous killers. In a St. Petersburg hospital, one of the fans caught fire while it was operating. In an oxygen-saturated environment, the fire broke out in the room and killed five Covid patients. Another fire occurred in a Moscow hospital and killed another patient. It is feared that, in the rush to produce as many fans as possible, the factory made mistakes in assembling the equipment. From the ten appliances per day in late March, the company has grown to 100 pieces a day in late April. Also due to the large number of tests that are carried out, the number of infected people increases, at a rate of over ten thousand per day. In the last 24 hours, almost eleven thousand people have been infected and the total has reached 232,000, taking the country to second place in the world after the United States.
