The decrease is confirmed in hospitalized patients, more or less severe. Today there are 3,381 people in intensive care, 116 fewer than yesterday (the largest number of beds released in intensive care). 28,144 people are hospitalized with symptoms, 98 fewer than yesterday. The number of healed people of around two thousand people per day continues to grow: a total of 32,534, for an increase in 2079 in 24 hours (yesterday 1985 people had been declared healed).

The number of victims remains high. In the last twenty-four hours, 619 people died (yesterday there were 570), reaching a total of 19,468 deaths. A dramatic figure, which in the short term will no longer be global: the United States (with a much larger population, however) does not have an official estimate, but estimates by different media vary between 19,424 and 19,563 victims. In the United States, the highest number of victims has been recorded in a single day since the beginning of the epidemic: there are 2,108, according to the Johns Opkins University budget. The United States is the first country to register more than 2,000 victims in 24 hours.
The total number of people who have contracted the virus since the beginning of the epidemic in Italy is 152,271 (4,694 new infections detected in the last 24 hours, 3,951 yesterday). The swabs made today were 56609 (yesterday 53495). The ratio of swabs made to identified cases is 1 patient for every 12.1 swabs made, 8.3%. A slightly higher figure than yesterday, but stable. Meanwhile, the tampons made throughout Italy have reached 963,473.
Even if the number of healed is increasing, it is good “do not let your guard down”, as the head of Civil Protection once again recalls, Angelo Borrelli.
Also because we are still looking for a vaccine that can protect the population from the virus. “Normally, the average time is 2 to 3 years to market a vaccine. This time, I think the times will be much shorter, certainly not the usual times for a vaccine,” explained the pediatrician and member of the scientific technical committee. Alberto Villani, during the conference Civil Protection Press.
To reassure parents, the news comes that the number of children who fall ill remains very low. And, in any case, these are not serious cases. “Between 0 and 18 years, just over 2,000 diagnoses, cases are evenly distributed among age groups. In fact, there were very few hospitalizations, around 7% of pediatric patients and no critically ill patients in Italy” Villani said.
