Two more hospitalizations at the polyclinic, one of them in intensive care. Five new cases in total in Messina, all in the capital. One of these cases of positivity for Covid, which is not part of the clinic’s activity, so we cannot absolutely speak of an outbreak, refers to a private clinical institution. Positive to the swab performed on his return by a physiotherapist. The Ministry of Health and, therefore, also the Health Authority, recognizing ministerial directives, obliges all health personnel who return from vacation to undergo tests before returning to the ward.
And the same happened with the physiotherapist who tested positive. There is no danger of an outbreak. As the doctor returning from vacation, he seems spent in the Aeolian Islands, he has never returned to work. In the same clinic, in recent weeks, there were three cases among the staff. Of these, two were negative on the control swab, the third did not. Now, to scare, there are those who return from vacation. They return with the virus “in the suitcase.”
The bulletins of the Ministry of Health, neither the Health Authority, nor the Department of Health have been issuing them for some time, giving from five to ten infections a day. In the polyclinic, on the other hand, the number of people hospitalized amounts to 11: 8 in infectious diseases 3 in intensive care. So, one more patient in the infectious disease ward, one more patient in intensive care. In intensive care, the sixty-year-old girl returned in recent days from Croatia previously hospitalized in the room dedicated to those suffering from Coronavirus.
In infectious diseases, on the other hand, the newcomer is an eighty-year-old from the Tyrrhenian province linked to one of the outbreaks that have developed in the municipalities on that side. In Sant’Agata Militello the number of infected remains stable: 14. One of them, a ninety-year-old boy infected by a relative returning from Malta, is hospitalized in the polyclinic. In Sant’Agata, the extraordinary measures adopted by Mayor Bruno Mancuso are taking effect, who has imposed the use of masks even outdoors and throughout the day.
Canceled the gastronomic festival that should have taken place yesterday and today and any other type of event. More than two hundred swabs were made. So far, those that were tested have given negative results. In Villafranca, the cases that have arisen in recent days have not increased. Two people in their seventies who were still in home isolation were infected.
