Coronavirus, infections surge on record day for swabs

The increase in infected coronaviruses in Italy rises but with the record of swabs made: in the last 24 hours they were registered 1,640 new cases (therefore approx. 250 more than yesterday) but with 103,696 swabs, the highest number since the start of the emergency and more than 16 thousand more than yesterday.

The total number of infected people, including victims and cured, rises to 302,537. The increase in victims is also increasing: from 2 p.m. on Tuesday to 8 p.m. today for a total of 35,758. In no region are there zero cases.

This is what we read in today’s newsletter from the Ministry of Health and Civil Protection. Total discharged / healed is 220,665 (+995), while the current positives are 46,114 (+625). To date, there are 2,658 hospitalized with symptoms, of these 244 are in intensive care, while 43,212 people are in home isolation.

The regions with the highest number of new cases in the last 24 hours are Campania (248), Lombardy (196), Lazio (195), Veneto (150) and Liguria (108).
