New peak of infections in recent months in Italy. The latest bulletin issued by the Ministry of Health speaks of 2,844 new cases in the last 24 hours. Such a high number hadn’t happened since April 24, when 3,021 infections were recorded in one day. The curve rises despite the slight decrease in tampons, 118,932 made, about 1,300 less. It also grows, although slightly the number of new victims: 27 in one day, for a total of 35,968 since the start of the emergency.
We return with the figures to the periods of the full emergency phase, but with a different geographical setting: at the top of the ranking of the Regions most affected in recent hours is Campania (+401), followed by Lombardy (+393) and Piedmont (+279). There are currently 55,566 positives for Covid 19 throughout Italy, but fortunately most of the new patients are not in the hospital: they are 1,503 more people infected in isolation at home (52,064) while the number of places occupied in intensive care (297, +3) and in ordinary wards (3,205, + 63) increased slightly. I am instead 1,247 people healed of illness on the last day, and the total number since the start of the pandemic rose to 231,217.
These are data that also concern the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella: “I cannot silence the concern about the increase in the rate of pandemic contagion and about the victims that we continue to register every day,” commented the head of state. The Ministry of the Interior, given the growth of positives, has announced that it is willing to provide more support with extraordinary activities and if the help of the army is needed. And new precautions are on the way: from mandatory outdoor masks across the country to possible limitations on the closing hours of pubs and restaurants, up to the strict rules on the quota of presences in sports and recreational facilities such as theaters and cinemas, although the president of Anica Francesco Rutelli, states that “the government has assured us that for the moment this is not on the agenda.”

we need you.
In these weeks of pandemic, journalists, if we do our job conscientiously, we do a public service. Also for this reason, every day here at ilfattoquotidiano.it we are proud to offer hundreds of new content for free to all citizens: news, exclusive insights, expert interviews, surveys, videos and much more. All this work, however, comes at great financial cost. Advertising, at a time when the economy is stagnant, offers limited income. Not in line with the access boom. That is why I ask those who read these lines to support us. Give us a minimum contribution, equal to the price of a cappuccino per week, which is essential for our work.
