Coronavirus positives in Campania continue to decline for the fifth day in a row: 103 out of 5,427 swabs, 19 of which are returning from vacation or are connected to previous positives. On the other hand, there are no deaths, after the unfortunate cases of recent days: in particular the two deaths registered in Cotugno, one of which arrived in very critical conditions due to advanced age (93 years) but the other, 60 years and in good health, struck down by fulminant pancreatitis. SarsCov2 in the last 20 days has caused two deaths in Naples in middle-aged subjects who were in good health, affecting vital organs (heart and pancreas) as proof of the persistent danger of infection even in this phase with less epidemic and clinical intensity. Regarding the hospital situation, the peak of cases of a week ago now corresponds to an increase in ordinary hospitalizations (254, 15 more than the previous day) of which a substantial part in sub-intensive care and 17 in intubated resuscitation with critical situations (4 more than the day before, the second highest figure in Italy after Lombardy, equal to Veneto) as a long wave of refoulement cases. The cured increase: (70) which slightly reduces the positive mass and the infectivity index.

The pulse of the hospital situation can be well represented in Cotugno: here there are 22 patients in the ordinary regime of 25 available places (with technical beds added in other operating units), 16 patients in sub-intensive care of 16 (yesterday a 55 year old transferred from Sorrento with respiratory failure). Finally, 7 people in intensive care (out of 8 available), 3 of whom were intubated and the rest from the subintensive unit. The latter welcomes all non-invasively ventilated and interstitial pneumonia patients. Several transfers from other structures and access to emergencies. Locations in Loreto and Covid in eastern Naples are also nearly saturated, where green light is expected for sub-intensive therapy and resuscitation. Tomorrow a summit is planned in the Region to evaluate the transition from Phase A to Phase B of intermediate intensity. The virus now circulates constantly and is difficult to circumscribe. We have to live with it. In Caserta the situation is similar: 50 full hospitalization places, 7 ventilated patients. 2 in intensive, participating 52 places of the 65 available. In Boscotrecase, of the 36 activated places, 19 are occupied in infectious diseases, 6 in subintensive and 1 in resuscitation. Finally Scafati: the 19 places in infectious diseases are occupied, 16 of 16 in pulmonology, the 4 resuscitation places are also saturated and there are no more free rooms. Finally Cardarelli forced to open the surgery of the week to dedicate it to patients who were admitted for other pathologies and discovered positive for the virus.. Anaao, along with the other unions, requested and obtained a meeting with the manager for Monday to seek organizational solutions. “With the understanding that Cardarelli must continue to perform the functions that are historically recognized – explains Anaao – we appreciate the commitment of the general manager but we must work firmly in the non-Covid future of the hospital”. Meanwhile, the hospital management has established a gray area in all departments where patients await the result of the entrance swabs.
