The new rules introduced by the Giani ordinance: in the absence of the exam “it will not be possible (for doctors) to issue the return certificate”

Starting next Monday, the Region will ensure 17,500 daily tests to identify who can test positive for Covid-19: about 6,000 more tests than the current ones, more than four times those guaranteed in the spring, in the middle of the pandemic. The priority – announces Governor Eugenio Giani, as soon as the ordinance is signed – will be given to students “to prevent a child with a cold from being sent home, from school, on suspicion of coronavirus.” But those who refuse to undergo swabs will not be able to return to school.
NO TESTS, NO SCHOOL
On this, the ordinance does not allow exceptions. “In the event that the parents of the student or student with suspected symptoms of Covid-19 – read the annex to Giani’s ordinance – refuse to (do) perform the molecular smear or antigen test prescribed by the pediatrician of the Family or GP will not be able to issue the certification back to school or educational service “. The same rule applies to school operators (from teachers to employees).
QUICK TESTS
The system -explains Giani- has been agreed with the experts to have faster and less invasive tests, especially having to act in schools. However, the test of choice, even with rapid response (without the need for an on-site laboratory to examine the extracted material), is the examination of respiratory samples. “The sample collection methods are completely similar to those for molecular tests (nasopharyngeal swab)”, but the results can also be obtained in 15 minutes or at most 12-24 hours.
SUSPECTED CASES BY COVID-19
This procedure is activated when a child, who did not have any symptoms of the infection at home, begins to experience at school: fever (to be measured every morning) chills, cough, shortness of breath, sudden decrease or loss of smell or taste , change in taste, sore throat, cold, runny nose.
DOCTORS AT SCHOOL
To help identify these symptoms, provide “identical scientific advice and assistance” in schools – Giani announces – about 200 doctors will soon be recruited (to be distributed to 2,500 centers in Tuscany) selected through tenders. It will be they (in case of expulsion from school) or the family pediatricians who evaluate the symptoms. Doctors can thus deduce that: 1) the case is not “suspected of Covid-19”, the family communicates with the school and the child returns without tampons; 2) the case is suspicious Covi-19. And then the request for a rapid antigenic swab is triggered.

If the health conditions of the child or the school operator allow it, the quick test is carried out at the crossing points ”: the school staff or parents (if the child is at home) can reserve it on the regional portal . Instead, if the doctor thinks it is better to perform the test at home, the pediatrician requests the test at home and the ASL reserves the test, sending the Usca operators. The reservation “has priority for being a student”. The same goes for the school worker. If the test is done on site, the result is delivered immediately; If instead you need a pass in the laboratory, the result will be available in 12/24 hours in the health file.
QUICK TEST NEGATIVE
With the negative antigen test, the child returns to school with the medical certificate that certifies that the student “can be readmitted to the community … since the diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive pathways have been followed.”
RAPID POSITIVE TEST
If, on the other hand, the rapid test is positive, the classic procedure is activated: molecular swab (more detailed). What can have a double result: confirming that the child or person is positive for coronavirus or that it is negative.
If the molecular swab is negative, after 2-3 days the doctor (observing the symptoms) orders a new swab: while waiting, the student (or even the teacher, the school worker, etc.) stays at home in fiduciary isolation. Family members, however, can go out. The only exception is for siblings who cannot go to school. Instead, classmates can keep going to school.
LOW LOAD POSITIVE PAD
If, on the contrary, the buffer is positive, but with little load, the ASL isolates the pupil and places a new buffer. If the confirmatory molecular smear is negative, the isolation ends; if it is positive (even with a low load, the procedures to prevent infection are activated. Brothers and sisters cannot go to school until the result of the molecular swab. If it is negative, they can return “without any certificate if the family does communicate in advance “.
