TRENTO. Although Trentino continues to count among the yellow zones most indicators health and provincial authorities are concerned, so much so that the president of the province himself Maurizio Fugatti acknowledged the risk of a color change: “The situation is somewhat critical – He explained a few days ago – the number of hospitalizations could take us to the orange zone ”. Precisely with regard to hospitalizations Trentino shows the worst data for Italy: beds occupied in intensive care represent 55.6% of the total (well above the critical threshold), while hospitalized patients with Covid-19 represent 68.5% of the capacity of Trentino hospitals.
To make things worse Trentino, As reported by the Gimbe Foundation on its website, it still shows a very high incidence of cases. The data for the last two weeks, updated to December 15, speak of 546 positive cases each 100,000 inhabitants. Only Veneto (992 cases per 100,000 inhabitants), Friuli Venezia Giulia (817 cases per 100,000 inhabitants) and Bolzano (578 cases per 100,000 inhabitants) are in worse condition. However, it should be noted that in South Tyrol, compared to the previous week, the situation is clearly improving while in Veneto it has gotten even worse. If in Bolzano the incidence has gone from 741 positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants to the current 578, in Trento the decline was much less, from 563 to 546. In short, a very slow descent that places Trentino among the high-risk areas.
Unlike, most other regions recorded clear improvements regarding incidence. Even Lombardy and Piedmont, two of the most affected territories, show important signs of improvement: for the Lombards, the incidence fell from 502 to 350, while the Piedmontese fell from 603 to 414 positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
It doesn’t get better than that the percentage increase in total cases recorded in the week between December 9 and 15 thatn Trentino stands at 8.2%. Also in this case sonly three regions make it worse from Trento and are: Veneto (15.1%), Friuli Venezia Giulia (13.3%) and Puglia (12.7%). Finally, as Civil Protection points out, in the province of Trento the death rate in the last 30 days has risen again, which for the moment reaches 4.4% (266 deaths out of 6065 cases). To complete the picture, it must be remembered that there are currently only five territories in the orange zone: Valle d’Aosta, Tuscany, Abruzzo, Campania and the province of Bolzano, which also shows signs of marked improvement.
