The adventure of a Goceano administrator becomes a coincidence
SASSARI. Swabs and “flying” swabs with a mysterious result, never communicated to waiting patients in a state of understandable apprehension. In the very complicated mosaic of the emergency there is also room for episodes that approach the limits of reality and that, perhaps, in some cases go beyond them. Abnormal situations that cast a shadow over the effectiveness of the prevention and monitoring systems for possible positives.
Flight pad. What he saw as the protagonist of a municipal administrator of the Goceano is an episode that adds the absolute emergency in which the Special Assistance Continuity Units (Usca) operate to the difficulties that citizens may find to perform a swab. “I had had a high fever for three days and without having yet performed the specific tests, I isolated myself waiting for the temperature to drop – says the administrator -. As he was not improving, I notified the general practitioner who alerted Usca. Unfortunately, their commitments did not allow an approach to my country and that is why they asked me if I could drive the car and meet them at their headquarters. Honestly, I didn’t feel like doing so many kilometers, I wasn’t feeling well and I wanted to avoid any contact. Who knows what would have happened if he had had an accident on the road … ». The solution found, however, was not the most orthodox: “We agreed to meet at a crossroads and we did. I got into my car and drove, with a fever, to the intersection. They came, got dressed and cleaned me right in my car. Then I turned around and went home. I must say that they were very friendly and professional and that the situation is certainly not attributable to the single medical unit but to a general poor organization. The absurd story, however, generated a happy ending: the “flying” platform gave a negative result.
Shock absorber of mystery. In this case, however, the swab was stained yellow because the person in question never knew whether the result was positive or negative. This is Manuela, the 45-year-old from Muros who has been armored for days at home after returning from a trip to Croatia for medical reasons. At the airport, first in Venice and then in Alghero, the woman had asked for the swab to which she was entitled to be applied because it came from one of the high-risk areas indicated in the Conte dpcm. Nothing to do, so Manuela had returned home and the next day, it was Sunday, August 30, she had notified the health authorities. At that moment, her quarantine obligation was activated and only after a week of forced isolation was Manuela able to take a swab on September 5. While she waited, she remained armored at home, in full compliance with the rules. But the exam never came. “On the afternoon of the 10th – says the 45-year-old man – I received a phone call from the mayor announcing the end of the quarantine at the stroke of midnight on the 12th. The health authorities gave the communication to the mayor, but the result of the hyssop there is no trace. I do not know if it was positive or negative, but for 14 days I was locked in the house. A situation that does not seem normal to me “.
