The fearsome Covid 19 virus, which tries to isolate itself with the mandatory use of masks and distancing, continues inexorably among the inhabitants of Messina and some centers of the province. Yesterday, the numbers still increased by a few units and involved, in addition to single people, also other city health facilities that had never before been interested in the Coronavirus phenomenon.
After three resignations yesterday, two for recovery and one in home isolation, five new patients were hospitalized that same day in pavilion C of the university hospital. In detail: two 80-year-old women outbreak of Castel di Lucio, where yesterday there were 12 positives that were confirmed by molecular swabs administered by the ASP; a 48-year-old man who was part of the group following the Giro d’Italia.
Also yesterday they hospitalized two people from the Nemo Sud Clinical Center that attends the Polyclinic for Neuromuscular Diseases and whose premises are located in pavilion B of the same hospital. For these latter patients, the Nemo Sud Center announced that the two patients, after being hospitalized with a negative swab result, became positive a few days after hospitalization and were immediately transferred to the nearby Covid center. As a result of this situation, all the rooms were disinfected and swabs were performed on the other patients and operators.
Four of them, as reported by the ASP, tested positive for Covid and were placed in home isolation. Activities, however, continue regularly except for the day hospital and outpatient visits which have been suspended for the time being. Temporary suspension of hospitalizations, on the other hand, at the San Camillo Clinic in Viale Principe Umberto, where the positivity of a health worker infected by her sister who works in the Taormina hospital was recorded.
The woman is obviously in home isolation and, according to the procedure, all the hospitalized and the medical and paramedical staff of the clinic were subjected to smears. The situation in the Covid Polyclinic center, updated yesterday, is 13 hospitalized in pavilion C and one in intensive care. It should be noted that among these family groupings are confirmed, in fact one marriage and two pairs of brothers and sisters are positive, while another couple was discharged two days ago.
A case was verified in the Theological Institute of Santo Tomás, it is a student: today the plexus will remain closed for a correct and complete cleaning of the building. Classes will resume on Monday, October 12 with the exception of the course attended by the university, according to the Asp. For those who remain in fiduciary quarantine, online lessons will be activated.
