Five dead and 218 positives in South Tyrol

In hospitals and nursing homes in South Tyrol, another five people have died from coronavirus infection: reports the provincial health authority. Since the start of the health emergency, the total number of victims has risen to 756. In addition, another 142 positive cases have been confirmed by PCR and 76 by antigen tests. In the last 24 hours, 1205 PCR swabs (316 new tests) were processed and 3,808 antigenic tests were performed. The number of people who have tested positive by PCR for coronavirus is now, after a correction to remove 105 “duplicates”, from 29,983. As of January 2, the operators of the Sanitary Company were 1,437, of which 1,064 recovered. 41 freely chosen general practitioners and pediatricians tested positive, of which 29 recovered. The Covid-19 patients hospitalized are 25 in intensive care (1 more than yesterday), 197 in normal hospital wards (11 more), 149 in affiliated private facilities and 21 in isolation at the Colle Isarco and Sarnes facilities. There are 7,644 people in home isolation.

The positive swab rate in today’s Crisis Unit newsletter is 11.07%, down from 9.65 yesterday, but far from 12.21% two days ago. In Basilicata 131 positives and another six dead

One hundred thirty-one of the 1,291 swabs examined in Basilicata last weekend were positive: the regional working group announced this and added that, in the two days considered, another six people died due to covid-19. Of the positive swabs, 113 belong to people residing in the region, where the dead reached 260 and those cured, with 108 at the weekend, 4,593. There are 5,951 currently positive Lucanians, of which 5,853 are in home isolation. 98 people suffering from coronavirus are hospitalized in the Potenza and Matera hospitals: four are in intensive care. Since the start of the health emergency, 186,740 swabs have been analyzed in Basilicata, of which 173,424 were negative.

177 new cases and four deaths in Sardinia

Slightly decreasing infection curve in Sardinia: in the last update of the Regional Crisis Unit, 177 positive Covid cases were detected in 1,846 swabs (yesterday there were 194 out of 1,574 tests). The total number of cases detected in Sardinia since the beginning of the emergency amounts to 32,038. There are also four deaths (768 in total), two women and two men between 62 and 94 years old, two residents of the South Sardinia province and two respectively from the Metropolitan City of Cagliari and the province of Sassari. On the other hand, 489 patients are currently hospitalized in non-intensive wards (+16), while the number of patients in intensive care remains stable at 43. There are 16,194 people in home isolation. The progressive number of positive cases includes 14,246 (+210) recovered patients, plus another 298 clinically recovered. Of the 32,038 positive cases verified in total, 7,224 (+82) were detected in the metropolitan city of Cagliari, 5,260 (+26) in southern Sardinia, 2,553 in Oristano, 6,393 (+22) in Nuoro, 10,608 (+47) ) in Sassari.

Yesterday, January 3, there were 14,245 new infections, with 102,974 smears performed and a positivity rate of 13.8%. The dead were 347, while the cures in the previous 24 hours were 14,746. There were 23,075 hospitalized with symptoms, with 2,583 patients in intensive care and 154 admissions to resuscitation.
