Coronavirus: in Italy 1,640 new cases and 20 deaths, record number of swabs

Since the start of the pandemic, there have never been so many swabs in a single day and there were about 16,000 more than on Tuesday. Overall, those hospitalized for Covid are currently 2,658, compared to 2,604 yesterday, and patients in intensive care 244 against 239 the day before. A leap forward also for the cases of people in home isolation: today there are 43,212 (yesterday 42,646).

No zero contagion region None of the Italian regions, today, has remained immune to new cases of coronavirus. The most affected region is Campania, followed by Lombardy with 196 new infections and then Lazio with 195. In Veneto the new positives are 150, 108 in Liguria while in Emilia Romagna 101. The region with the lowest increase in infections is Valle d ‘Aosta where 2 cases have been registered.
