The “liberation march”, organized today October 10 in Rome, ended with some identified protesters. According to what was learned from sources close to the Rome police headquarters, during the demonstration ‘without a mask’, some people found without a mask have been identified and will be administratively sanctioned based on the provisions of the containment measures of the Covid- 19. There are about fifty people who will be charged fines of about 400 euros. In addition, anyone who violates the rules governing public demonstrations will be reported to the judicial authority.
Citizens who went to Piazza San Giovanni protested against the obligation to wear a mask and denied the real danger of the Coronavirus. Some 1,500 people gathered, all belonging to the so-called “deniers” groups. At 2:00 pm a demonstration also began in the Piazza Bocca della Verità, in the center, against the “dictatorship of health.”

As requested by the Interior Ministry, zero tolerance towards those who do not wear the mask outdoors. A protester, who was not wearing personal protective equipment, was detained by the police. “Shame, shame, arrest us all, fools,” some of them shouted in a moment of tension with the police. “All for a mask. Just because he refused to give the name, they took him like this. It’s a shame, ”explained those present.

Despite the controversial intention, from the organizers’ microphones we heard invitations to respect physical distance and wear a mask (not all participants are without a mask) “We are obliged to wear masks even though some of us do not share them.” But not everyone follows the advice.
Among the banners in the square are also those of the anti-Europeans of Vox Italia. “We are not deniers,” reads a poster. “We are here because we do not want a dictatorship.” There is also a plastic skeleton with a mask that says: “I did not die of Coronavirus, but of hunger”.

There are those who speak of “oligarchy”, others of “dictatorship of health” but there are also those who say they are “tired of not having a sovereign currency” and those who want “future generations to free themselves from neoliberalism.”

As explained in Open, in the “liberation march” there is also a delegation of the local police UGL of Rome that expresses perplexity at the obligation to fine “indiscriminately” citizens who do not use the mask outdoors, in contexts other than particularly dangerous (therefore if they are isolated or if they respect social distancing). According to Marco Milani, from the local Ugl police in Rome, the coronavirus “is a particularly aggressive form of flu.”
