Today’s main news:

  • The Minister of Defense, Lorenzo Guerini, the Minister of Health, Roberto Speranza, and the extraordinary commissioner of Emergencies, Domenico Arcuri, have decided that the Pratica di Mare military airport, in Lazio, will be the national warehouse where they will be stored. and then distributed the coronavirus vaccines.
  • The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has updated the rules to follow for those who return to Italy from abroad, where they were for reasons of study, work or tourism. They are valid until January 15 but will become more rigid from December 10 and in particular between December 21 and January 6 to limit travel during the holidays. In particular, those who will go skiing abroad during this period, once returned, must observe 14 days of fiduciary isolation and health surveillance. Meanwhile, in Europe there is a dispute on the ski slopes: there are those who keep them closed, such as Italy, France and Germany, and those who have decided to open them despite the serious epidemiological situation, such as Austria in Switzerland.
  • Interior Minister Luciana Lamorgese told a SkyTg24 that with a view to the holidays, around 70 thousand policemen will be used to verify that the regulations to contain the coronavirus infection are respected. Lamorgese also said that border controls will be strengthened and assured that “there can be no militarization of cities, which would go against the trend with the opening of businesses and allowed purchases.” He also recalled that from September to today “some six million controls have been carried out, although 50% were registered in October and November.”
  • In a video on Facebook, Veneto President Luca Zaia asked his “citizens to stay home to avoid encountering an unpleasant surprise during or after the Christmas holidays.” Zaia recalled that, although now the epidemiological situation seems to have improved, “it is also true that Covid accustoms us to sudden changes for which today we cannot reassure anyone.” In view of the weekend and the Immaculate Conception, Zaia added that “these will be complex days, we run the risk of seeing rivers of people in the commercial streets and beyond. It is a problem because we run the risk of frustrating the efforts of the last months.
