PORDENONE AND UDINE – “As of December 3, I assume the return of Friuli Venezia Giulia to the yellow zone.” Words delivered yesterday by the President of the Region, Massimiliano Fedriga. But it will not be the “old” yellow zone, but a reinforced system, probably by a regional ordinance. “It will not be a free all,” he added, “we cannot afford it. That is why I intend to implement a series of regional regulations aimed at avoiding gatherings. There is talk of the obligation to consume food and beverages only at the table and of quota entries in shops and shopping centers. In any case, the road seems to be signposted: we are moving towards the reopening of bars and restaurants (until 6 pm) and the elimination of the prohibition to leave the municipality of residence. The key follow-up will be in the middle of the week, while the new measures could take effect from the weekend or Sunday at the latest.
THE NUMBERS
“On December 10 – Fedriga explained – the peak of hospitalizations is theoretically expected.” It means that even if it is slow, the curve will continue to grow, then it should go down. The median value of Rt is at 1.09, with a minimum peak (November 25) of 1.04. Compared with the penultimate follow-up, a lower growth of contagion was observed: it was 20.8 percent and fell to 11.6 percent. There is still a progression, but more limited. There are 733 new outbreaks, up from 684 the week before. The percentage of swabs that tested positive (excluding scheduled screening) increased to the median value of 34.3 percent. And this is a fact to take into account. The improvement in the follow-up is confirmed: today 91.7 percent of the cases have a “history” certified by the Prevention Departments. The situation of contagion between health personnel and those in nursing homes continues to be critical. Mortality in Fvg is 2.8 percent, compared to 3.5 percent at the national level. The average age of the deceased is 85 years. In the region, there are 669 positives per 100,000 inhabitants, while at the national level the quota reaches 706 people. The only admissions in intensive care (excluding discharges) were 312 (in the first wave there were 179) while those in the medical area reached 2,2285 against 1,401 in the spring.
