There are 986 positive cases of Covid-19 in the last twenty-four hours registered in Tuscany – 462 in the Central ASL territories, 363 in the Northwest and 161 in the Southeast – which brings the total number of people currently ill to 10,851 (+ 8 , 7 percent compared to yesterday): 865 were identified in the course of the scan and 121 through detection activities. The data are those of the bulletin that the Region prepares daily from the requests of the National Civil Protection to monitor the progress of the epidemic, verified at noon today.

Of the 10,851 patients, almost all are isolated at home (10,340), because they do not need any type of particular health care, and only 511 are still hospitalized, 71 more than yesterday. Excluding the control swabs, 7,178 people were tested in the last day: of these, 13.7 percent, more than yesterday, tested positive. Unfortunately, there are also twelve deaths (six men and six women, average age 87), which have caused the number of deaths to rise to 1,206 since February when the health emergency began. Since the beginning of the epidemic in the region, 23,788 positive cases have been confirmed so far, with 927,802 smears performed in nine months (10,557 only on the last day). There are already 11,731 people cured (49.3 percent of all cases), 0.9 percent more in the last twenty-four hours.

The average age of 986 cases today is about 43 years (19% are under 20, 26% between 20 and 39, 31% between 40 and 59, 16% between 60 and 79 and 8% have 80 or more).

Of the 23,788 people who contracted the virus, according to the province of residence or domicile, 6,867 affect the area of ​​the metropolitan city of Florence (347 more than yesterday), 1,580 Prato (37 more), 1,677 Pistoia (78 more)), 1,923 Massa Carrara (67 more), 2,649 Lucca (40 more), 3,082 Pisa (193 more), 1,239 Livorno (63 more), 2,215 Arezzo (88 more), 1,193 Siena (54 more) and 813 Grosseto (19 more). There are also 550 positive cases reported in Tuscany, but from residents in other regions.

Tuscany is confirmed in tenth place in Italy in terms of number of cases (including residents and non-residents), with around 638 per 100,000 inhabitants (the Italian average is around 686 per 100,000, the figure of yesterday) . The notification provinces with the highest rate are Massa Carrara with 987 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, Pisa with 735, Lucca with 683, while the lowest is Grosseto with 367.

People isolated at home, because they have mild symptoms that do not require hospital treatment or because they do not have symptoms, are 794 more than yesterday, 8.3 percent more. Another 16,832 Tuscans (49 less than yesterday, less 0.3%) are also isolated at home, under active surveillance because they have had contact with infected people (Asl Centro 6,106, Northwest 6,472, Southeast 4,254).

There are currently a total of 511 people hospitalized in beds dedicated to Covid patients (more than 16.1%), of which 62 are in intensive care (7 more than yesterday, more than 12.7%).

Of the 11,731 cured since the beginning of the epidemic (109 more than yesterday, plus 0.9%), 498 are clinically recovered (38 more in the last twenty-four hours, plus 8.3%), that is, they were asymptomatic after presenting clinical manifestations associated with the infection, while 11,233 (71 more than yesterday, plus 0.6%) declared themselves completely cured, the so-called viral cures, after a double negative smear.

The twelve deaths at present (6 men and 6 women with a mean age of 87 years) affect residents in the provinces of Florence (4), Pistoia (2), Massa Carrara (1) and Arezzo (2). Three people came from outside Tuscany. Since the start of the emergency, 440 people have died in Florence, 54 in Prato, 86 in Pistoia, 184 in Massa Carrara, 149 in Lucca, 100 in Pisa, 65 in Livorno, 57 in Arezzo, 33 in Siena and 26 in Grosseto . , while twelve people died on Tuscan soil but resided elsewhere.

Tuscany’s crude death rate (number of deaths / resident population) for Covid-19 is 32.3 per 100,000 inhabitants against 60.5 per 100,000 for the Italian average. Tuscany ranks eleventh in this special ranking. Regarding the provinces, the highest mortality rate is found in Massa Carrara (94.4 per 100 thousand), Florence (43.5 per 100 thousand) and Lucca (38.4 per 100 thousand); the lowest is in Grosseto (11.7 per 100,000).
