MASSA-CARRARA – Out of 4,250 new people screened, excluding control swabs, 673 coronavirus cases emerged in the last twenty-four hours across Tuscany. Therefore, 15.68 percent of those who were tested tested positive. The figures that photograph the progress of the epidemic are those verified and communicated today at noon based on requests from Civil Protection. Added to the cases reported since the beginning of the pandemic, the total number of Tuscan positives reaches 112,344. Of these, however, only 18,114, which decreased by 5.1 percent in one day, are still ill: 1,399 hospitalized and 16,715 isolated at home, since they do not require special care.
Since the start of the health emergency in February, Tuscany yesterday broke the wall of one million people undergoing examinations (today 1 million and 5,473) and in total, even with control or repeated swabs, 1,718,159 exams only 12,416 on the last day (plus 1,887 rapid antigenic swabs) with 5.4 percent positive results within 24 hours.
Those cured continue to grow, 1.8 percent more in the last day, and amounted to 91,079 (81.1 percent of total cases). The pressure on health facilities is also positive, decreasing: 50 fewer patients in hospitals, 41 in wards and nine in intensive care. Unfortunately, the long wave of deaths continues: 34 reported today by the ASL to the regional offices, not all referring to the last twenty-four hours, 19 men and 15 women with an average age of 79.3 years.
The average age of the 673 new positive cases in today’s bulletin is around 48 years old: 14 percent are under 20, 24 percent between 20 and 39, 30 percent between 40 and 59, 21 percent percent between 60 and 79 and 11 percent 80 years or older.
According to the province of residence or domicile, since the beginning of the epidemic there are 31,391 total cases registered in the territory of the metropolitan city of Florence (214 more than yesterday), 9,875 in Prato (61 more), 9,951 in Pistoia (57 more) , 7,202 in Massa-Carrara (64 plus: Carrara 21, Massa 28, Montignoso 2, Aulla 2, Fivizzano 1, Fosdinovo 3, Licciana Nardi 4, Tresana 2, Zeri 1), 11,424 in Lucca (75 more), 15,676 in Pisa (90 more), 7,837 in Livorno (42 more), 10,013 in Arezzo (35 more), 4,539 in Siena (18 more) and 3,881 in Grosseto (17 more). There are also 555 positive cases reported in Tuscany, but from residents in other regions.
In detail, there are 348 cases in today’s bulletin that refer to the Central Asl, 255 to the Northwest, 70 to the Southeast. Tuscany currently ranks 10th in Italy in terms of the number of cases (including residents and non-residents), with about 3,012 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (the Italian average is about 3,025 per 100,000, yesterday’s figure). The reporting provinces with the highest rate are Prato with 3,832 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, Pisa with 3,741, Massa Carrara with 3,696, while the lowest is Siena with 1,699.
People who are isolated at home, because they have mild symptoms that do not require hospital treatment or because they are symptom-free, decreased in one day by 928, a decrease of 5.3 percent, and as previously written there are 16,715 cases. In isolation under active surveillance, although not positive but due to the fact of having had contact with infected people, there are another 28,102 Tuscans: 8,948 in the ASL Toscana Centro, 14,427 in the Northwest and 4,727 in the Southeast. bottom: 550 less than yesterday, 1.9 percent less.
Of the people admitted to beds dedicated to Covid patients, which today are 1,399 in total (50 less than yesterday, less 3.5%), 219 are currently in intensive care (9 less than yesterday, despite ten new accesses, minus 3.9 percent of the balance). Among those declared cured –91,079 (1,617 more than yesterday, plus 1.8%) – the majority (90,626, 1,579 more than yesterday, plus 1.8%) are in force, the so-called viral cures with negative swab, while 453 ( 38 more than yesterday, plus 9.2 percent) are currently only clinically, that is, they have become asymptomatic after presenting clinical manifestations associated with the infection.
With the 34 deaths reported in today’s bulletin: 9 in the Florence metropolitan city area, 4 in Pistoia, 2 in Massa-Carrara (a 92-year-old man and a 63-year-old man), 4 in Lucca, 3 in Pisa, 4 in Livorno, 6 in Arezzo and 2 in Siena. The deaths since the beginning of the epidemic therefore amount to 3,151: 1,096 in Florence, 217 in Prato, 245 in Pistoia, 348 in Massa Carrara, 285 in Lucca, 349 in Pisa, 232 in Livorno, 179 in Arezzo, 99 in Siena and 72 in Grosseto, plus 29 people who died on Tuscan soil but who reside outside the region. It is also reiterated that it will correspond to the Higher Institute of Health to definitively attribute the deaths to the Coronavirus: in fact, many times they are people who already had concomitant pathologies.
Tuscany’s crude death rate (number of deaths / resident population) for Covid-19 is 84.5 per 100,000 inhabitants compared to 106.1 per 100,000 for the Italian average. Tuscany, in this particular ranking, is eleventh among the regions of Italy. Regarding the provinces, the highest mortality rate is found in Massa Carrara (178.6 per 100 thousand), followed by Florence (108.4 per 100 thousand) and Prato (84.2 per 100 thousand), while the lowest is recorded in Grosseto (32.5 per 100,000).
THE SITUATION IN ASL TNO HOSPITALS
Regarding hospitalizations for “Covid-19”, in the Northwest Tuscany Usl hospitals there are a total of 411 (yesterday there were 431), of which 48 (yesterday there were 53) in intensive care. In Livorno hospital 71 patients, 11 of them in intensive care. In the Lucca hospital 80 patients, 12 of them in intensive care. In the Apuane hospital 87 hospitalized (stable compared to yesterday), of which 14 in intensive care (stable). In the Versilia hospital, 82 were hospitalized, of which 4 in intensive care. In Pontedera hospital 46 patients, 4 of them in intensive care. In the Cecina hospital 19 patients, of which 3 in intensive care. At Pontremoli hospital 18 patients (stable). In the hospital of Barga 8 patients.
Finally, based on the daily monitoring, in the entire territory of the USL Company of Northwest Tuscany, to date (December 13) there are 14,427 (+51 compared to yesterday) people in quarantine for having had contact with infected people.
