ROME. Both new cases and swabs have fallen: in the last twenty-four hours, infections by Covid are 37,255 (yesterday the record, 40,902), with 227,695 swabs made, 27 thousand less than yesterday. The percentage of positive swabs increases slightly again, from 16.04 to 16.3%. The number of deaths remained essentially stable, 544 (yesterday 550), for a total of 44,683.
This is what emerges from the daily bulletin of the Ministry of Health. In total, since the beginning of the pandemic, we have been infected with 1,144,552. Also in the last twenty-four hours there are 76 new patients admitted to intensive care, bringing the total number of people in intensive care to 3,306 throughout Italy.
The region with the most cases, despite the current decline, is still Lombardy (+8,129), followed by Piedmont (+4,471), Veneto (+3,578), Campania (+3,351) and Lazio (+2,297). There is a positive data: the cured are growing, 12,196 today (11,480 yesterday), for a total of 411,434, while the currently positive ones are growing by 24,509 units (yesterday 28,872), and now they are 688,435. Ordinary hospitalizations slow down, 484 today (less than half yesterday, when they were 1,041), for a total of 31,398. There are currently 653,731 people in home isolation.
THE SITUATION IN THE REGIONS
The coronavirus pandemic appears to be slowing down Piedmont, where 37 deaths have been registered in the last 24 hours, 5 of which today, and 4,471 infections, against 5,258 yesterday. There is also a decrease in hospitalizations: 7 in intensive care, which is now 360, 12 in the other departments, for a total of 4,890. The swabs were 19,715. There are 63,953 Piedmontese in home isolation. Since the start of the pandemic, deaths in Piedmont have exceeded 5,000 (5,001), while the total number of infections is 121,783 compared to 47,567 recovered patients.
In Lombardy Today 8,129 cases were reported, with 158 deaths. Since the beginning of the epidemic, the total number of deaths is 19,186. 35,550 swabs were made, for a total of 3,511,792. Yesterday, compared to 55,636 swabs, there were 10,634 positives and 118 deaths.
In Lazio There are currently 64,958 positive cases, of which 3,076 are hospitalized, in addition to 273 patients in intensive care (13 more than yesterday), and 61,609 in home isolation. The cured reached 15,079, the dead 1,625 and the total number of cases examined was 81,662.
In Calabria there is a new increase in the number of hospitalizations, which in the last 24 hours went from 365 to 371 (+6). Today’s increase refers only to infectious diseases (+7 compared to yesterday, for a total of 345 hospitalizations), while the number of hospitalizations in intensive care is decreasing (-1 compared to yesterday, for a total of 26 hospitalizations ). In Catanzaro there are 80 hospitalizations (of which 10 in intensive care), in Cosenza 115 (of which 6 in intensive care), in Reggio Calabria 129 (of which 10 in intensive care), in Crotone 30, in Vibo Valentia 17 .
In Sicily 1,729 new cases of Covid increase the total of current infected to 27,806: 1,462 hospitalized with symptoms, 215 in intensive care (+5) and 26,129 in home isolation. 860 have died, 23 more than yesterday. The total number of cases amounts to 40,110, 11,444 discharged cured, with an increase in swabs performed equal to 9,274. Also in Sicily, a new outbreak should be reported in the Irccs Oasi di Troina, in the province of Enna. In the structure, which houses 252 patients, there are 32 cases of Covid. «Twenty-seven positive patients, already isolated in two different rooms – explains the director of the IRCCS Don Silvio Rotondo – three health workers and two maintenance workers. None of them is hospitalized in other facilities, their health conditions are fair and at the moment they do not generate any concern. The current health emergency is fully controlled. In the first wave of the epidemic, an outbreak had broken out within the Troina Oasis and the country had been declared a red zone.
