MASSA-CARRARA – In Tuscany there are 120,917 cases of positivity to the coronavirus, 589 more than yesterday. New cases are 0.5% more than the total of the previous day. Those cured grew 0.4% and reached 107,381 (88.8% of all cases). The swabs made reached 1,893,356, 9,763 more than yesterday, of which 6% were positive. Instead, 3,344 subjects tested today (excluding control swabs), of which 17.6% were positive. To these are added the 3576 rapid antigenic swabs that are currently being made. The current positives are 9,836 today, + 1.6% compared to yesterday. There are 953 hospitalized (35 less than yesterday), of which 143 in intensive care (7 less).
Today there are 27 new deaths: 12 men and 15 women with an average age of 85 years. These are the data – verified at 12 noon today based on requests from the National Civil Protection – related to the advance of the epidemic in the region. The average age of the 589 cases at present is around 48 years (13% are under 20, 23% between 20 and 39, 36% between 40 and 59, 18% between 60 and 79, 10% is 80 or older).
It should be remembered that as of 06/24/2020, the Ministry of Health has modified the data collection system on the spread of Covid-19. Positive cases are no longer indicated according to the province of notification but according to the province of residence or domicile.
The following are the cases of positivity in the area with the change from yesterday. There are 33,721 cases in total to date in Florence (184 more than yesterday), 10,438 in Prato (25 more), 10,493 in Pistoia (28 more), 7,707 in Massa-Carrara (37 more: Carrara 15, Massa 9, Montignoso 1, Aulla 4, Casola in Lunigiana 1, Comano 1, Fivizzano 2, Fosdinovo 3, Tresana 2)12,630 in Lucca (84 more), 16,779 in Pisa (46 more), 8,704 in Livorno (68 more), 10,674 in Arezzo (53 more), 5,008 in Siena (49 more), 4,208 in Grosseto (15 more). 555 positive cases were reported in Tuscany, but residing in other regions.
There are 244 cases found today in the Central Local Health Authority, 228 in the Northwest, 117 in the Southeast. Tuscany ranks 12th in Italy in terms of the number of cases (including residents and non-residents), with around 3,242 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (the Italian average is 3,491 x 100,000, yesterday’s figure). The reporting provinces with the highest rate are Prato with 4,050 cases x 100,000 inhabitants, Pisa with 4,004, Massa-Carrara with 3,955, the lowest Siena with 1,874.
In total, 8,883 people are isolated at home, as they have mild symptoms that do not require hospital care or do not have symptoms (193 more than yesterday, 2.2% more). There are 17,938 (320 less than yesterday, less 1.8%) people, also isolated, under active surveillance because they have had contact with infected people (Asl Centro 4,267, Northwest 9,913, Southeast 3,758).
The people hospitalized in beds dedicated to covid today are a total of 953 (35 less than yesterday, minus 3.5%), 143 in intensive care (7 less than yesterday, minus 4.7%). There are 107,381 people cured in total (404 more than yesterday, more 0.4%): 551 clinically cured people (65 more than yesterday, more 13.4%), that is, they became asymptomatic after presenting associated clinical manifestations Infection and 106,830 (339 more than yesterday, plus 0.3%) declared completely cured, the so-called viral cures, with negative swab.
Sadly, today there are 27 new deaths: 12 men and 15 women with an average age of 85 years. It is reiterated that it will be the responsibility of the Higher Institute of Health to definitively attribute the deaths to the Coronavirus: in fact, many times they are people who already had concomitant pathologies.
3,700 have died since the beginning of the epidemic as follows: 1,253 in Florence, 249 in Prato, 276 in Pistoia, 387 in Massa Carrara, 346 in Lucca, 428 in Pisa, 269 in Livorno, 220 in Arezzo, 127 in Siena , 91 in Grosseto, 54 people died on Tuscan soil but were residents outside the region.
Tuscany’s crude death rate (number of deaths / resident population) for Covid-19 is 99.2 x 100,000 residents versus 122.9 x 100,000 for the Italian average (11th region). Regarding the provinces, the highest mortality rate is found in Massa Carrara (198.6 x 100 000), Florence (123.9 x 100 000) and Pisa (102.1 x 100 000), the lowest in Grosseto (41.1 x 100,000).

THE SITUATION IN ASL TNO HOSPITALS
Regarding hospitalizations for covid-19, in the Northwest Tuscany Usl hospitals there are a total of 277 (yesterday there were 285), of which 28 (yesterday 31) in intensive care. 48 patients were admitted to the Livorno hospital, including 5 in intensive care. In Lucca hospital 46 patients, of which 2 in intensive care. In the Apuane hospital 50 hospitalized (-2 compared to yesterday), of which 12 in intensive care (-1 compared to yesterday). In the Versilia hospital 85 patients, 4 of them in intensive care. 28 were admitted to the Pontedera hospital, of which 2 were in intensive care. In the Cecina hospital 20 patients, 3 of them in intensive care. In the hospital of Barga 0 patients.
Finally, from the daily monitoring, in the entire territory of the Northwest Tuscany Company, to date (January 1) there are 9,913 (-106 compared to yesterday) people in quarantine for having had contact with infected people.
