Coronavirus: the “red zones” in Sicily become ten
The “red zones” in Sicily become ten. From Saturday, November 21 to Thursday, December 3, in Bronte (in the Catania area), Cesarò and San Teodoro (in the Messina province), Misilmeri (in the Palermo area) and Vittoria (in the province of Ragusa), whose term is extended, are added: Acate and Comiso (always in the Ragusa area), Camastra (in the Agrigento province), Ciminna (in the Palermo province) and Maniace (in the Catania province).
This was decided by the president of the Sicilian Region Nello Musumeci, in agreement with the health councilor Ruggero Razza, after consulting the mayors of the affected municipalities and taking into account the reports of the Prevention departments of the provincial health authorities, which report from an increase in infections.
In all areas, national regulations will be applied with the closure of retail stores on Sundays, with the exception of food and basic needs.
The Epidemiological Observatory of the Region has begun monitoring the Districts, expanding the usual assessment of positive incidences by Municipality. This new follow-up led President Musumeci to establish “red zones” in the areas comprised in the Bronte and Vittoria districts, including several municipalities.
«We hope – Musumeci hopes – that the measures adopted are always subject to control. If the Dpcm establishes that the Presidents of the Region can adopt more restrictive provisions, in fact, it requires that the verifications be carried out by the prefectures. Otherwise, even the hope of limiting contagion fails, unnecessarily exasperating populations that have been asked to sacrifice. “
