Asiago, December 27, 2020 – Almost minus 42 degrees below zero, and it’s not an Alaskan record, but belongs to sinkhole of Campo Magro, inAsiago Plateau (Vicenza). A record cold due to the arrival of polar air in Italy that lowered the thermometer to -41.8 degrees. The incredible measure of freezing was detected this morning by the technicians of the ‘Meteotriveneto’ association, who physically monitor this and other Italian ‘cold poles’: particular places, characterized by natural depressions (called sinks) that under certain conditions, cold air , snow covered ground, clear skies and no wind, record temperatures well below zero.
Frost record was recorded every 7.35 this morning by Riccardo Benetti from an M3V partner: almost -42 at the cold site “dolina Campo Magro” is in fact the lowest value ever recorded at an altitude below 1750 meters (1612 meters). And always in the Vicenza area there are also -32.8 degrees in the Campomolon Valley. In Trentino instead Busa See him saw a temperature of -24.2 degrees. Among the mountain resorts, the title of coldest is for Livigno, with -21.5. But this is not all the data that we normally have: in fact the restrictions due to Covid -explains the association- have prevented us from reaching other historical places monitored in Pale di San Martino, where in 2013 the Italian record of -49.6 degrees.
