Given the high number of coronavirus infections, South Tyrol has decided on a closure and overnight curfew.

From 20 to 5 in the morning there will be a driving ban, provided there are no non-postponable needs.

Bars, restaurants, patisseries and shops will be closed.

Grocery stores and stores that sell essentials will remain open, as will pharmacies and newsstands.

Hotels will be closed for tourists, but can be used for overnight stays for business purposes. High schools and universities in the next three weeks will observe distance learning.

The use of the mask -if you are not alone-, the spacing and the hygiene rules are reiterated.

Then it remains to be clarified whether there will be any repercussions on mobility between Trentino and Alto Adige., on the basis of new national dpcm scheduled for tomorrow, which provides for the cessation of non-essential movements between regions in different risk bands according to the dynamic classification of the ministry.

As Governor Arno Kompatscher explained in an online press conference, the ordinance, in line with state guidelines, will be published tomorrow and will go into effect on Wednesday at 00:00 and will remain in effect until November 22, for three weeks.

«The document that we approved today in an extraordinary meeting of the board is in line with the national document of October 8 that had different scenarios planned. We have focused on this document, but currently the situation with the exponential increase in infections forces us to limit interpersonal contacts. Not everyone has followed the rules and been disciplined, so we have to proceed with the bans, to protect the health system and maintain school attendance, ”said Kompatscher.

To return to the new rules, retail will close on Wednesday in South Tyrol, while grocery stores and daily consumer goods will remain open. However, it will be closed on Sundays. Pharmacies, parapharmacies, kiosks are also open. Bars, restaurants and patisseries closed.
It will be possible to activate a take away service.

Schools are closed for the holidays this week, but from November 9-22, secondary schools and universities will have to switch to distance education, while primary and secondary schools will remain with face-to-face teaching.

Public transport will be able to transport up to 50% of the capacity, which in any case will be reduced by the lack of high school students who will stay at home.
All events and parties, even private ones, are prohibited. Conferences must take place online. Team sports and gym sports are prohibited. Only athletes from national teams can train. Gyms, spas and pools are also closed. It is possible to do individual sports outdoors.

“We managed to get through the summer quite well, even better than we could have imagined, but the second wave surprised us with its speed and intensity,” said Governor Arno Kompatscher.
The governor added that South Tyrol’s health system is now better organized to deal with covid. Both for ICU beds, equipment, etc.
In recent months we have tried to maintain and make possible all economic activities, but currently the increase in infections forces us to give a response, said Kompatscher who has launched an appeal to citizens to respect the rules.
