L’Editoriale / While the club and the team play the blame game, Giampaolo’s Turin is already the story of a project that failed at its roots
Where did the bull go? If for many the match against Udinese was going to be the match that could have changed the Turin season, at the Olympico Giampaolo’s team had to reflect once again on their weaknesses. A match that not only meant the umpteenth defeat of Belotti (one of the few to save face with Bonazzoli) and his teammates, but also marked a clear step back from the point of view of the game. Yes, because if in previous outings -including the derby- Toro had known how to “save face” by clinging to (some) flashes of good play, against Udinese the grenades stopped playing completely for more than an hour, only to react with belly in the 120 seconds between 21 ‘and 22’ of recovery. However, a reaction that was not enough for Giampaolo’s team to take home points and that, on the contrary, contributed to make an already announced debacle even more bitter.
A match that confirmed for the umpteenth time that Giampaolo’s is simply a successful project, but undertaken at the wrong time. A project assembled without the necessary planning, in an approximate and confusing way. Also for this reason, the words of President Cairo are not surprising, who defended his coach after the game, unloading the full weight of responsibility on the team. Because to disavow the election of Giampaolo – with whom Turin has signed a two-year contract with important figures – by the company would mean disavow and admit what today seems an announced failure.
Now it would be better if the company began to think of a solution. A remedy for the loss of value and values in a team that a little over a year ago (it was September 2019) beat Atalanta, even with a little luck, showing those canines and that competitive fury that today seem to have definitely become. melted like snow in the sun. And so it happens that we find ourselves in front of the same protagonists of those photos – at that moment the emblem of the character of Taurus – laughing more or less with conviction at the end of yet another ugly figure.
