Christmas red zone, travel and curfew: measures are on the way

Italy’s red zone from December 24 to January 6 on holidays and days before holidays. This is what emerges from the meeting between Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and the majority heads of delegation on the measures to be taken during the Christmas period and at the beginning of 2021 to stop the spread of the coronavirus. The other days that are not holidays or before holidays (December 28, 29 and 30) will be the ‘orange’ zone.

On days in ‘orange’, as Adnkronos has learned, the curfew should be brought forward to 20, as decided at the meeting attended by the Undersecretary of the Prime Minister, Riccardo Fraccaro, and the Minister of Regional Affairs, Francesco Boccia.

According to Adnkronos, it would have been the prime minister who held back on the hypothesis of excluding the day of Epiphany and the eve of the squeeze decided by the government. The issue was hotly debated at the summit. The prime minister would have closed the discussion on the Befana festivities by highlighting the risks associated with possible gatherings in the two days in question, especially after the repression of the immediately preceding period. “Unfortunately, we cannot risk – said the prime minister to those present – that there will be occasions for celebration and coexistence”.

As the Adnkronos anticipated, the government has confirmed the possibility, during the holiday period, of traveling to visit the closest relatives. However, the exemption only affects two people. In addition, it is confirmed that children under 14 years of age are excluded from the count, which will also lead to a small concession on the possibility of seeing grandparents.
