Christmas decree, red and orange zone: what remains open

The 2020 Christmas Decree brings Italy into the red zone (public holidays and days before public holidays) and into the orange zone (weekdays). The restrictions also affect commercial businesses and restaurants, with several closures and some exceptions.

RED ZONE – Shops, beauty centers, bars and restaurants will be closed in the red zone on December 24, 25, 26, 27 and 31 and January 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6. On these days take away food will be allowed (until 10 pm) and home deliveries (without restrictions). On the same days, supermarkets, food stores and basic necessities, pharmacies and parapharmacies, newsagents, tobacconists, laundries, hairdressers and barbers will remain open.


ORANGE ZONE – On the days of the orange zone (December 28, 29, 30 and January 4), bars and restaurants will be closed while take-out food (until 10 p.m.) and home deliveries will be allowed (Without restrictions). On the same days, the stores can remain open until 9:00 p.m.
