Cashback, we tried to use the “IO” app and it went wrong

Criticism on social media

The disservice is having the usual reverb on social media. On Twitter, the hashtag #CashbackDiStato is the most used trending topic in Italy. And most of the tweets are not at all lenient with the service and with the Io application, developed by PagoPA Spa. “As usual, all state initiatives do not support the intense flow of people” someone writes, or: “I try days to insert credit cards, I managed to insert only one … but is it possible that in Italy there is not a single one? Once, I say, that something works immediately? ».

Others say they found a solution: “I solved the problems with the Io application for the #CashbackDiStato using a scientific method: I compulsively pressed Retry until I got the result”, others still say that the illusion of being able to register did not last long: «The # CashbackDiStato is in Crash. I was already registered, lost all the data ». In short, the situation is quite clear. But there are also those who point out that the period prior to the refund contrasts sharply with what happened with Immuni: “Who knows why in the refund and the application” I “to recover 10% of the purchase money for which I do not see all the privacy fears we read about the Immuni app “.

The alternative

However, remember that there are alternatives. While the “I” app continues to freak out, some state-enabled private refund platforms like Satispay, Nexi Pay, Hype, and Yap seem to work. In all three cases it is not necessary to access through Spid, and simply activate cashback within the platforms. We did it with Satispay: just tap the “Cashback” icon.

The details of the voucher

We have written it several times in the last few days, but it is useful to remember. From today, December 8, until December 31, with ten payments by credit card, debit card, debit card or App you will get a 10% refund, up to a maximum of 150 euros in total. However, the 10% refund will stop at 15 euros for each purchase and 150 euros in total in the period in question. In practice, if you spend 250 euros you will always have only 15 euros back. And once you reach the amount of 150 euros, the returns no longer grow.

The measure is called “Christmas Extra Cashback”, or the first measure of “Italia Cashless”, the plan developed by the executive to encourage the use of credit cards, debit cards and payment applications in order to reduce the use of cash in purchase transactions. All of this is aimed at hitting untraceable payments, in cash, at submerged risk. Refunds will arrive in February. Starting in the new year, however, the real plan will begin.
