An expensive plan – the government has allocated 4.75 billion in the two-year period 2021-22 – with an equally ambitious goal: to foster the tax loyalty of citizens and fight tax evasion.

A plan that according to the first Italian data likes: at 5 in the afternoon of Friday 3.7 million citizens were registered. At the same time, registered electronic payment instruments are also increasing: from the IO app or through the rest of the available channels, a total of more than 6.5 million have been activated.
What will happen next year
Once the Christmas Additional Cashback window closes on December 31 (the government is considering extending the period until January 6), the “Standard Cashback” will start from January 1: it will be possible to get a refund of the 10% on the amount of purchases that will be made with cards or payment applications in stores, bars and restaurants, supermarkets and large-scale distribution or for artisans and professionals.
Online purchases will be excluded. There will be no minimum amount of expenditure and reimbursements of up to 300 euros per year can be obtained. Every 6 months, if a minimum of 50 payments are made, 10% of the amount spent will be obtained, up to a maximum of 150 euros in total reimbursement. The maximum refund per single transaction will be 15 euros.
