The weather alert in Campania has been extended. Currently in force in the province of Salerno theRed level weather alert issued by the Civil Protection of the Campania Region until 11:59 p.m. today. Starting at midnight and for December 10, in the areas of Salerno where the red alert is currently in force, we go to Orange: in fact the weather alert was extended to the entire region for a further 24 hours with a general reduction in the level of risk compared to the current one, with the exception of zone 3 (Sorrento-Amalfi Peninsula, Monti di Sarno and Monti Picentini) where the orange alert is confirmed, that is, the same one in force today.

“Special attention must be paid, on the hydrogeological risk front, to the soils already saturated by the rains these days,” reads the note from the regional civil protection. Also tomorrow rain from local to scattered throughout the territory, even in case of downpour or storm. Gusts of wind are also expected.

Here’s how the alert changes from midnight to 11:59 a.m. tomorrow:
– Orange criticality in zones 3, 5, 6, (Zone 3: Sorrento-Amalfi Peninsula, Monti di Sarno and Monti Picentini; Zone 5: Tusciano and Alto Sele; Zone 6: Piana Sele and Alto Cilento; Zone 8: Bajo Cilento .
– Yellow criticality in the rest of the areas (Zone 1: Piana campana, Napoles, Islas, Vesuviana zone; Zone 2: Alto Volturno and Matese; Zone 4: Alta Irpinia and Sannio; Zone 7: Tanagro
In all areas, maximum attention must be paid to hydrogeological risk, due to possible landslides, rock falls even in the absence of rainfall, due to the conditions of the territory that can be particularly fragile.

These are the possible phenomena of impact on the ground: – Instability of slopes, locally also deep, superficial landslides
and rapid flows of debris or mud;
– Significant surface runoff, even with transport of
material, possible abysses due to erosion phenomena;
– Flooding of underground rooms and the ground floor;
– Significant increase in the hydrometric levels of water courses,
with flood phenomena in neighboring areas, also due to the effect
local criticalities (plugs, constrictions, occlusions of the lights of the
bridges);
– Surface water flow in the streets and possible
phenomena of regurgitation of rainwater with overflow and
participation of depressed urban areas;
– Landslides and possible rockslides due to conditions
hydrogeological fragile, also due to saturation of soils,
even in the absence of precipitation.

The Civil Protection of the Campania Region recommends keeping active all measures to prevent and combat existing and anticipated phenomena in relation to hydrogeological risk. It is also recommended to monitor the correct subjection of public parks and structures exposed to the forces of the winds and the consequent movement of the waves.
