But am I the only teacher who complains? Letter

Posted by Rosanna Frattallone – My dear, I am writing to you to find out if I am the only teacher who suffers from the many hours you spend in front of the computer.

With 100% distance learning in high school it is really exhausting to spend 10 hours a day in front of the screen and I will list the reasons:

1) We must prepare the lesson material that will be sent to the students (I mean videos, several videos both created by the teacher and taken from the Web that must first be viewed to test the quality, or texts and lessons in pp)

2) 18 hours of distance lessons with students with the internet line that sometimes fails and therefore either the audio quality is lowered or someone disconnects and then reconnects losing parts of the explanation

3) In addition to preparing the lessons, we must prepare the tests, send them and then correct them always standing in front of the PC: do you know why? Because I, a teacher who did not know how to use “G-suite for education”, I spent 20 hours training on the product and then I am using it because it should facilitate teaching, but in fact we have to keep our eyes glued to the monitor to correct and evaluate each student’s assignment, look at each student’s connection time report. In fact, in doing so, it is no longer the teacher of the first hour who takes roll, but each teacher must check at all times if everyone is connected and put the absences in the register (another painstaking work of the view) … … then we should also send an email to find out why that student has not connected.

4) another chapter is the numerous emails to always read and manage in front of the screen

5) Another separate chapter is all meetings on Meet or other channels:

colleges (ordinary or extraordinary)
departmental meetings (ordinary and extraordinary)
class councils (ordinary or extraordinary)
PEI
PDP (each teacher must complete their part for the subject)
Activate the classroom, manage the thousand folders in DRIVE
Develop individual programs ALL THIS MUST BE MULTIPLIED BY THE NUMBER OF CLASSES (7-9)
hours of training that all teachers are required to do (we do not neglect those who have had the role or role change and must do the training hours with Indire)
In the end you no longer want to watch TV or a movie to rest your mind AND PERSONAL LIFE ????
I do not blame anyone because each person in the school hierarchy is fulfilling their duty, giving their all in their role, BUT SOMEONE MUST CONSIDER THE HEALTH AND LIMITS OF OUR HUMAN BODY.
Any doctor, ophthalmologist or security officer knows that you cannot spend too many hours on the computer as it has been happening since March 2020.

I decided to send this email to different recipients, to receive feedback and request a serious problem that I think we are overlooking, which concerns our health.
