ROME – In relation to the investigationexam of Italian supported by Luis Suarez at the University for Foreigners of Perugia come the words of Prof. Maurizio Oliviero, Magnificent Rector of the University of Umbria who, through an official note, wanted to clarify the contacts with the Juventus and with the ds Fabio Paratici.
Suárez case, FIGC prosecutor opens investigation
“My role in the matter was limited to putting the football club in contact with the University for Foreigners of Perugia. I was contacted by an acquaintance, currently involved in the entourage of Juventus, to find out if it was possible to support the University of Perugia the exam for the certification of knowledge of the Italian language. I informed the interlocutor that this type of service is not available at our University and that it was probably confusing between us and the University for foreigners. Both for reasons of institutional courtesy, and for the benefit that the City Council and the territory could have allegedly obtained, I arranged to put the interlocutor in contact with the Governance of the University for foreigners. I would also like to point out that on no occasion have I undergone or operated in any way solicitation, explicit or implicit, that could suggest something other than the simple information that is the subject of the conversation. Therefore, my role in the matter was exhausted in the brief interlocutions necessary for that purpose. I specify that the only time I came into contact with Dr. Paratici was because of a courteous courtesy visit, received a few days after the exam, with which he wanted to tell me that the player’s entourage was very satisfied with the reception received at the University for foreigners. In addition, it is my duty to clarify, also due to the confusion created in the dissemination of the news, that the University of Perugia and the Italian University for Foreigners of Perugia are two fully autonomous and differentiated academic institutions and that the former had no role in the issue that the press is occupying these days”.
