An examination, that of the two bodies tortured, began yesterday morning at 10 in the morgue of the Vito Fazzi hospital in Lecce and suspended around 19:00. Yesterday morning the parents of the two boys carried out the examination of the bodies, an extremely painful but necessary operation. Then, the coroner Roberto Vaglio focused on the search for biological traces that could somehow lead to the identity of the murderer. Hair or even small pieces of skin that could have gotten under Eleonora or Daniele’s nails if they physically collided with the killer. Or traces of blood, if the killer was injured in the rush of the slaughter. Today the examination will continue with the autopsy itself, to understand how many and what blows caused these two apparently inexplicable deaths. Absurd, because there seems to be no shadows in the lives of Eleonora and Daniele, who on the night of the tragedy were in what would become the home of their future together. They had made the pizza. Then he had photographed it and sent it to his mother by WhatsApp. In an Instagram video filmed minutes before the tragedy, Eleonora is still seen hanging photos on the wall. In short, nothing foreshadowed what happened then around 9:30 p.m. Neighbors report strange noises in the house, then yelling. Someone would have clearly heard Eleonora yelling the name “Andrea”. The name of the killer? Or that of a neighbor you went to for help? In the palace, actually, there is a dear friend of Daniele whose name is that. Then the tragedy: she was shot dead at the front door, he on the stairs while perhaps trying to escape. Abandon you there, in a pool of blood.
The investigations continue unabated, but the turning point that seemed close yesterday is not there. Not yet visible. During a good part of the day there were rumors of an arrest, of an interrogation at the Prosecutor’s Office, but the prosecutor himself denied it. The carabinieri of the Lecce provincial command are concentrating all their forces to close the circle and arrive at the identity of the murderer. Given the conformation of the condominium – equipped with an exterior gate, the door of the building and then the door of the house – it seems likely that it was Daniele and Eleonora who opened it to the murderer, which supports the hypothesis that they knew him. Maybe they let him into the house.
THE PREMEDITATION
From the fury with which the murderer raged over the bodies, a deep resentment could be assumed. And then again: He was wearing gloves and perhaps a hood over his head, which would suggest premeditation. So far the hypotheses. To corroborate them with the facts, the phones and computers of the two boys were seized, the cameras were screened and witnesses were heard. Someone would have seen a man dressed in black, with a covered face and gloves, walk away. On his shoulders he wore a yellow backpack, or at least a light color. It would seem the same person who has taken the images of surveillance cameras placed in a street near Via Montello when approaching number 2 on foot. His face is uncovered, but the quality of the images would not make him recognizable. But it is already something. A starting point for acquiring new images.
And then there is another element that researchers are concentrating on at this time: on the ground, in the courtyard, the entrances stained with blood would have been found. Above, something written in ballpoint pen that may have been printed by the killer. Perhaps a message for Daniele and Eleonora, perhaps some personal correspondence lost in the excitement of the escape. At the moment, the content of these fines is strictly confidential, but it could be their content that guides the investigators towards the capture of the murderer.
