In large Italian companies (or in the branches of multinationals) smart work was not a real novelty. Rather. Many companies have responded to the Covid-19 emergency by improving services that not only already existed, but in many casesit was already regulated by internal union agreements. A regulation that anticipates, in a certain sense, the request of the unions for the post-emergency state, which the representatives of CGIL, CISL and UIL have already discussed with the Minister of Labor Nunzia Catalfo (see Il Sole 24 Ore of September 25) .
Agreements since 2014
The examples of companies that signed agreements even before the agile work law (law 81/2017) are different: Intesa Sanpaolo did it on December 14, 2014, Fastweb in 2015, Windtre in 2016. In the case of the banking group , the Measurement has gradually become an integral part of corporate strategy: «The Business Plan presented in 2018 the extension of about 8 thousand people which carried it out in 2017 to 24 thousand people at the end of 2021 ”, informed Intesa Sanpaolo.
“At the end of 2019 – they add – there were about 14 thousand qualified colleagues, but the process was greatly accelerated due to the pandemic: also considering Ubi, who formally joined the Group on August 5, people qualified for smart work they are therefore 77 miles is 110 miles“The objective, however, is” to expand it even further, giving everyone in the Group the possibility to use it. “
The pandemic has led almost all realities to expand or strengthen agile work, even in the presence of previous agreements: the Fastweb policy in the face of the Covid emergency, for example, “it was expected to be able to achieve four days a month, but even before the emergency – said the company – we had signed a second level agreement that would gradually bring them to eight in 2021. We believe that the conditions are in place for a greater extension of smart work ”, they conclude.
What will happen after Covid?
Among the companies already equipped on this front is also Unicredit, which signed a first agreement in 2018 and updated it on April 2, 2020, in the middle of the Covid-19 emergency. Then there are companies that, even without a union agreement, have introduced agile work in a structural way. This is the case of Microsoft Italy: “Smart work in the company is regulated for ten years,” explains Angela Paparone, director of HR at Microsoft Italy.
