For weeks now, the province of Bergamo has been the one with the lowest rate of Covid infections in relation to its population: it stands at 2.34% and in Lombardy only Brescia can boast a percentage lower than 3%.
As is evident, the second wave of the pandemic in Lombardy is hitting the areas where the violent spring tsunami had arrived only marginally: Varese, Monza and Brianza, Como and Milan.
Going deeper into the situation in our province, there are still municipalities with a high rate of infections compared to their own population. The highest is registered in Piazza Brembana, with 4.23% (51 infections), followed by Gromo with 4.08% (49), Caquate San Gervasio with 3.65% (298), Casirate d’Adda with 3, 57% (147), Fara Gera d’Adda at 3.54% (284) and Treviglio at 3.50% (1,054).
In recent weeks, the number of new infections in the province has suffered a sharp and abrupt slowdown: 1,862 from November 7 to 13, 1,672 from November 11 to 17, 1,510 from November 18 to 24 and 1,162 from November 25 to December 1.
The latest update, December 2-8, speaks of 909 new infections.
“The statistical dimension of the new cases identified at the municipal level (and the relative incidence rate per 1,000 inhabitants) confirms, for the week of November 2 to December 8, the persistence of a more critical situation in the district of West Bergamo (with special attention to the Treviglio and Isola Bergamasca areas) – they explain Alberto Zucchi, Elvira Beato and Roberta Ciampichini of the Epidemiological Service of the Ats Bergamo Company – There are high incidence rates in some municipalities, presumably due to the presence of active outbreaks (in particular, Solto Collina for the second consecutive week appears particularly high (another 12 new cases in a week), as well as Torre Pallavicina (another 8 new cases. most impacted in the week under study is Costa Valle Imagna (+6, compared to +1 the previous week); especially since this municipality, having a very small population base, has an extremely high incidence rate. Villa d’Adda outbreak appears to be in the process of being fully resolved (from +35 to +3 new cases in a week), as well as Fara Gera d’Adda’s (+11, compared to +41 the previous week). The number of municipalities with 0 incidents remains fixed at 80 (municipalities with white on the map). The set of indicators continues to express globally, at the provincial level, a situation of progressive reduction of the epidemic curve (at the pro vincial there is a comforting -253 new cases, in the comparison between the two weeks). However, attention should remain high in the West Bergamo district areas, as well as individual municipalities in other districts where outbreaks have emerged (largely intrafamilial in nature). We recall once again the need to strictly respect – and enforce – all the established rules, in particular on social distancing and on the use of means of individual protection (mask, hand washing, etc.) “
