Members of the Coordination Council of the Belarusian Opposition Maria Kolesnikova, Ivan Kravtsov and Anton Rodnenkov went through customs on the border with Ukraine. Belarusian State Border Committee spokesman Anton Bychkovsky told TASS. “We confirmed that they passed the checkpoint at the Alexandrovka border crossing at 4 in the morning.”
However, Kolesnikova was arrested. This was reported by the Belarus-1 television channel, according to which “she allegedly tried to flee Belarus illegally and was detained at the border.” But the dynamics of the events are not yet clear.
The story may have been organized by special services, a source close to the opposition, who knows the three in question well, told Interfax.
“Neither Anton Rodnenkov, nor Ivan Kravtsov, nor Maria Kolesnikova had any intention of going abroad. In fact, they were categorically against it. They ended up at the border after their arrest. They were probably brought there from the detention center and, like Olga Kovalkova, they were forced to leave the country, “said the source. The special services would then “organize” Kolesnikova’s attempt to cross the border illegally. “Most likely it was a provocation during which Kolesnikova was arrested,” the source said.
Yesterday, Berlin asked for explanations on the matter and the release of all political prisoners in Belarus.
