Becciu, funds and transfers to the brothers after the resignation requested by the Pope

There are also some funds and positions obtained by the brothers of Bishop Angelo Becciu behind the sensational resignation of the former candidate for Pope of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints and his resignation of the rights linked to the cardinal, welcomed last night by Francis after a shocking audience that saw a dramatic confrontation between the former number two of the Vatican Secretariat of State and the Pope. The matter would refer to loans for several hundred thousand euros finished in a cooperative managed by Antonino Becciu and the companies of Mario and Francesco Becciu and is also the subject of an investigation by Espresso that will be on the newsstands on Sunday.

According to what Adnkronos learns, in particular, the contributions of Cei and, in part, of the Saint Peter Pennies (the ‘money for the poor’ donated by the faithful), they had gone in several operations to the Cooperativa Spes de Ozieri (Sassari), a structure of which Antonino Becciu is the legal representative and who works closely with the local Caritas. A fact on which the Guardia di Finanza has moved for the investigations and on which, for the moment, there would be no concrete criminal charges, but which was undoubtedly considered at least inappropriate by Pope Francis, who would have challenged Becciu during the listening last night. Even more so because it is not isolated.

Another operation that ended under the lens of the Vatican, in fact, concerns the Angel’s srl, of which Mario Becciu is the CEO, and of which, according to Adnkronos, the other brother of the cardinal, Francesco, would also be a partner. The company has signed a collaboration agreement with the Caritas Roma Foundation: with the agreement, the Foundation allows the new company that deals with the production and marketing of craft beers to use the Caritas Roma brand to mark the ‘Birra Pollicina’ in exchange the “donation” of 5% of the sales volume. Among the hypotheses of both Vatican and ‘Italian’ researchers, the one that has yet to be verified is that the operation was favored by Bishop Angelo Becciu and that it could have generated indirect income at Angel’s.

Finally, the relations between Francesco Becciu, owner of a carpentry in Pattada, would have been brought to the attention of the Pope, with several Nunciatures -among them that of Angola, where the former prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints stayed for a long time- to carry out works on wood, in some cases financed with funds from the Saint Peter Pennies.
