“With the date of January 7 approaching, and therefore the return to school of secondary students, we are witnessing numerous controversies between the Regions and the Government on whether or not this recovery is adequate.”
Thus Antonello Giannelli, president of the ANP, on the problematic return of high school students on January 7.
“We must trust the scientific evidence that the CTS represents and therefore yes to the reopening in presence but only if there are no risks to the safety of students and staff,” he warns. Assistance must be reestablished, but without shifts that are detrimental to the organization of children’s lives and study, limiting the extent of astonishment as much as possible ”.
“A fundamental requirement – he adds – is that adequate security measures are observed in the means of transport. The rules are respected within schools and the risk of contagion is minimal, as international studies attest. For months we have been asking for regulations to be respected even outside schools and for continuous capillary screening using quick swabs ”.
Giannelli concludes: “Another common sense request is that the shift from 50% to 75% attendance be gradual and left to the decisions of individual schools. Forcing them to continually rearrange their hours is detrimental to the quality of teaching. In this way, however, it would be possible to correctly follow the evolution of the epidemiological situation in the different areas. The role of ensuring the safety of school leaders must be respected without imposing on them pre-packaged and clumsy solutions.
