Avis: Despite the drop in guaranteed donors, blood and plasma

[ad_1]

Avis is a gift, a life and a hope. Not only to satisfy the need for blood and its derivatives, in full compliance with the safety and quality criteria for both the donor and the recipient, but also to give life expectancy to patients with COVID-19, thanks to iperimmune plasma.

Avis Provincial President Said It Right Gabriele pagliarini at the 56th national assembly convened in full compliance with current regulations to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. A moment of sharing and a time for evaluations and gratitude to those who have donated and who have overcome fear even in the most difficult moments, making generosity prevail and responding to the calls launched for the collection of blood. A request for blood that sadly it never stops.

The data released, which photographs the situation throughout 2019, speaks of 60,936 donations with a decrease of 332 compared to 2018. There were 34,180 active donors in 2019, 72% men and 28% women. For apheresis-only donations, on the other hand, of the total of 1,093 donors, 55% are women. The predominance of donors is group 0 positive, followed by group A positive.

Avis, which will continue with the project in schools and at the Catholic University in 2020 as well, is increasingly targeting young people who are also a precious presence in organizing campaigns and awareness-raising initiatives. Finally, thanks to the Spedali Civili Foundation of Brescia for having financed extraordinary projects and to the Fondazione della Comunità Bresciana for the contribution made, aimed at offsetting the increase in expenses after the pandemic and supporting the headquarters renovation project, but above all to the regional hyperimmune plasma collection.
