“Mir, but couldn’t you have your own cabbage?” – is one of the comments, probably the most polite, published on Joan Mir’s Instagram profile, after the third place obtained (deservedly) in the last lap of the Grand Prix of the Republic of San Marino, at the Misano Adriatico circuit. A few compliments for the Spanish and, unfortunately, many, too many insults. Everyone commented on the overtaking of Valentino Rossi, which cost the nine-time world champion the podium. A normal race situation, with an overtaking, among other things, clean and far from the limit, which, however, unleashed Rossi’s worst fans, those who sometimes make you think more about football than motorcycling. Some comments, particularly posted below a photo Mir had posted even before the race, chill the blood.
Because it is one thing to joke, to make fun of the mockery that has generated disappointment in many, it is another to ignore the nature of motorsport, where certain values still have to be kept high. Valentino himself, in post-race interviews, demonstrated that the results must be accepted, and you probably wouldn’t like certain behaviors on the part of some of your fans. Because, as already said, reading those lines one really wonders what certain characters have to do with motorsport. We do not report any of those comments, we only attach the video that refers to Joan Mir’s Instagram profile. Here there were also raids by haters and, for those who want, just go read them. On the positive side, some have notably distanced themselves. A sign that the seed of sportsmanship still exists and resists.
