TRIESTE Some more prohibitions, some recommendations. But, in any case, a fear: to see Friuli Venezia Giulia become a red zone next Friday, the day of Roman surveillance. Massimiliano Fedriga and Deputy Riccardo Riccardi anticipate in the morning the content of an ordinance signed then in the afternoon and in force from today until December 3, the 43rd of these long months of living with the coronavirus.
In an upward trend in contagion, even with the measures of the orange zone imposed by Rome, the document contains on the one hand anti-collection obligations or recommendations for the entire region, on the other hand it initiates swabs voluntarily in six small municipalities have shown a high contagion rate in relation to the population.
Food and drinks not in public
After having withdrawn ordinance number 41 in protest against the government, the governor changes his mind, given the numbers of the pandemic, and therefore launches another, again appealing to the responsibility of individuals. The battle “is won together”, Fedriga repeats, inviting citizens to respect the rules and collaborate.
In the general scheme of the ordinance, therefore, it was decided to include “surgical interventions” aimed at reducing the risk factors of aggregation. Hence the prohibition of the consumption of food and beverages not only outside the premises that have been organized with take-out sales, but also in other public spaces or open to the public. Too often, it is the consideration of the President of the Region, in those contexts we have seen people who, with their masks down, have continued to meet, speak, meet.
The recommendations
Then there are also the “strong recommendations”, as we read in the text of the ordinance, considered useful for situations in which it is not possible for the institutions to carry out a control, and it only remains to appeal to the common sense of the people. And here is the request to use public transport “if not by necessity it is not fulfilled”, not to go to other houses of families other than one’s own, even in this case except when strictly necessary, to avoid crowded places, to increase intelligence working to decongest offices.
The sport
The last step, and it is a ban, concerns sport. Contact sports in the open air are suspended, the only ones that were allowed, excluding events and competitions of national interest. However, it is allowed to walk, run and even play tennis (but only if they are members of Fit) or athletics, always outdoors, since they are not contact sports.
The risk
All this in a context in which the contagion numbers are anything but comforting. With a never-so-heavy load on RSS, Fedriga is the first to admit that the orange could turn red in a few days: “The risk is there, but we are not absolutely certain.” The president, returning to the question of the parameters of government that the Regions would like to reduce from 21 to 5, speaks of “a very strange situation: when our data improved they put us in the orange zone, while now we would be in the yellow zone although we realize that we are more in difficulties.
Trials in municipalities at risk
Meanwhile, the request is for collaboration. Even municipalities called for antigenic swab screening. These are Dolegna in the Gorizia province, Paularo, Socchieve and Sutrio in the Udine area, Claut and Castelnovo in the Pordenone area. A model operation from South Tyrol, with the aim of identifying infections and new positives, starting with asymptomatic “invisible” ones. It starts tomorrow, with the central department of health, civil protection, the departments of the health authorities and the local administrations on the ground. This will be the first act of massive swabs whenever necessary to contain waves of the virus.
Fedriga already talks about Cimolais and Andreis in Valcellina, due to territorial contiguity, and adds: “Our idea is to expand a screening that does not have epidemiological purposes, but that serves to isolate the positives, in particular from the most fragile groups, and to lighten the pressure on health facilities ”. The central directorate will identify the municipalities from time to time. Attention, as in Veneto, also to DIY tests. “As long as they work,” warns the governor.
Controversy
On the sidelines, Fedriga points to the minority forces, in turn yesterday at a press conference on the pandemic: “The call for responsibility that I have made several times is denied daily by the opposition in the Region. It’s hard to think that instrumental attacks can be used to defeat the virus. ‘ –
