The Apulia is the first region to close all schools again as of October 30: not only secondary schools, which in Italy already operate at a distance of 75%, but also primary and secondary schools, which in the rest of the country are still open in presence. The new peak of 772 contagion registered in the last 24 hours convinced the president Michele Emiliano return to distance education throughout the region. He himself communicated it by talking to SkyTg24, during transmission The numbers of the pandemic: “We had to take one difficult decision, to suspend face-to-face teaching in all schools of all levels – he said – In primary schools we have very heavy numbersnursery schools, where attendance is not compulsory, are excluded from the provision. We have verified that the increase in infections coincided with the reopening of schools ”.
The constant growth in the number of infections, partly linked to the reopening of schools, is the reason behind the election of the governor of Apulia: “Today in Puglia we have reached the maximum peak historical with almost 800 new infections that led us to the painful decision to distance learning obligation in all schools – he added – The beginning of the increase in the region coincides with the reopening of schools and it is good that the government is aware of this. Then he specified that “face-to-face activities will only be possible for students laboratories and for frequency needs of students with special educational needs“.
Concern has generated forecasts conducted by experts who, if confirmed, speak of a November that could put the Apulian health system to the test: “We are preparing for a formidable second wave – anticipated – By the end of November we hope 2,500 infections per day. I am making worrisome statistical forecasts for Apulia and for the whole country ”.
The governor then explained that “the numbers for this second wave are much higher than those of March and April, so we prepare to go much further intensive therapy authorized, very sparingly, by the government. All the hospitals in Apulia will participate in this fight ”. Among the problems to be solved throughout the region, Emiliano added, is that related to the lack of Special continuity care units (Usca): “Le Dry In Puglia there are not many, I doctors did not participate in the calls“A situation that leads the president not to exclude the possibility of a “Mandatory banning of doctors” train special home care units for Covid patients. “Until now,” he added, “a satisfactory agreement has not been found, I hope to close it in the coming days.
Today the region counted 772 positive cases in 24 hours of 6,437 tests for the COVID-19, thus registering a new increase (yesterday there were 611 cases), with also 13 new deaths. Almost half of the new positives are in the province of Bari (359), 117 in the province of Foggia, 127 in the province of Taranto, 86 in the province Barletta-Andria-Trani, 39 in the province of Lecce me Brindisi, while four residents outside the region are positive and one in the province is unknown. Since the beginning of the emergency, the total number of positive cases of Covid in Puglia is 16,353 and currently the positive cases are 9,437.
