Antonio Merloni, third son of Aristide Merloni and therefore brother of the former president of Confindustria Vittorio, who died in 2016, and the former minister and businessman Francesco, died in Fabriano on the night between Saturday and Sunday. He would have turned 94 on December 19 and had been ill for some time. A widower, he leaves his daughter Giovanna. He was the founder of the Antonio Merloni spa, which would later become Ardo, a company that during the 1990s and 2000s became the largest contractor in Europe in the white sector, especially washing machines.

The industrial group officially entered an irreversible crisis in 2008, followed by a “pout” with the acquisition of the various branches of the company by various parties, including the former JP Industries now Indelfab. A crisis whose effects are still evident in the territory. For three terms, from 1980 to 1995, he was mayor of Fabriano. The funeral will take place on Tuesday, December 15 at 11 am in the church of Mercy in Fabriano. The coffin will be buried in the family grave in the Albacina cemetery.
