“Increased testing these days is a hot panel. I wanted to triple them, no one appeared ”. Microbiologist Crisanti tells Repubblica: “My tampon plan ignored. Months wasted and now we cry ”.

Professor, yesterday there was a record number of tampons: more than 125 thousand, 25 thousand more than the day before. Are they enough to intercept and contain the virus?
“Twenty-five thousand more? I’m fresh water. Or a warm patch if you prefer. I suggested 3-400 thousand a day.”

Crisanti regrets the failure of his plan:

“I handed it over to Minister Federico D’Incà and Vice Minister Pierpaolo Sileri, who forwarded it to the CTS. So I didn’t know anything about it. (: ..) I say it against me: perhaps in August we were already late and now we are paying the consequences. We have lost 4 precious months. To think that everything was over because we had 100 cases a day was an illusion and in the meantime nothing has been done. We spent billions on the bicycle bond and the banks, instead of investing them to create a health surveillance system that would have protected us. “
