An avalanche in Cortina. Alpine Rescue: “A Dead Young Man”

An avalanche occurred in Cortina, in the Tofana di Rozes area, over the Giussani refuge, and it would have involved several people. According to the mountain rescue, which is already at work, one child died and others were overwhelmed by the snowy front. The victim was washed downstream for 200 meters. To cause the tragedy it would have been a slab of snow and ice detached from the wall of a mountain and it was thrown on a group of ski mountaineers.

Surgery

The rescue is entrusted to the men of the alpine rescue of the Guardia di Finanza, the alpine rescue and the carabinieri. The weather was excellent in the area and there were numerous hikers. It appears that the victim was in the company of a relative. A witness said that hundreds of people were present in the area. The boy was climbing on skis in the Pillar area. On many of the mornings they went to the Angelo Di Bona refuge and from there they skied along the Tofana valley.
