Two large companies such as Amazon and Esselunga have announced their participation in the initiative of Food Bank Collection. The historic association dedicated to recovering excess food from distribution and catering to offer it to the most needy, has decided to expand the collection also online, with the support of the two companies.

Amazon customers can donate to the Food Collection Until 10 December, pasta, cookies, porridges and all the products listed on the website dedicated to the Amazon.it/bancoalimentare initiative.

Likewise Esselunga has reserved a section for the initiative on its home shopping site esselungaacasa.it where it is possible to select the items that will be donated to charity, again until December 10.

Once the purchase is made, the purchases will be delivered directly to Banco Alimentare’s warehouses, from where they will be restocked 8 thousand affiliated charities that support more than 2,100,000 people living in poverty.

The collaboration between the e-commerce giant and the charity isn’t new, but it’s been going on since 2015, the year in which Amazon begins to supply the Bank with the surplus food present in its logistics network and invites employees to actively participate in the National Food Collection Day.

Given the logistical and organizational difficulties due to the Covid-19 emergency, this year the Food Collection has focused its mainly online activities and the American multinational followed him by making it possible to donate products directly from its store.
